Feeling uninspired today. I'm reaching for the essence of Gabaldon, but sounding like the Lorax. So I'm listening to one of my all time faves. The lyrics don't do justice to this song--you have to feel the soul and determination in Natasha's angelic voice. She has been added to my list of people who could sing about the contents of their sinus cavities and still enthrall me. Allison Kraus comes to mind, as does Josh Groban; and, believe it or not, George O'Dowd (aka Boy George). It isn't just the range these singers have, it is the clarity of their voices. Any of them could be opera singers. Ok, Groban sings in Italian, but only because his manager forces him to: he's a rocker at heart. In this song, Natasha has bottled pure unfiltered inspiration from the streams of heaven. Hope it inspires you, too. Unwritten ------Natasha Bedingfield I am unwritten, Can't read my mind I'm undefined I'm just beginning The pen's in my hand Ending unplanned Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words That you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten ,yeah I break tradition Sometimes my tries Are outside the lines, oh yeah We've been conditioned To not make mistakes But I can't live that way oh, oh Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten |
