I had thought of myself as a morning writer for years now. The last two NaNo's saw me writing mostly before the afternoon, so I assumed it would be difficult for me to write at night. But increasingly, I'm finding that assumption to be wrong.

I'm falling behind a bit... I'm not behind the NaNo goals yet, but at this rate, I might soon. Yesterday's NaNo WC goal was 28,339 and my WC at the end of the day was only 28,414.

I have to step it up a little! I want to make sure I'm at least keeping up with the NaNo WC goals. I'm just feeling a little lost within my novel. I'm having a difficult time keeping track of everything that's going on, plus trying to find a way to bring it all together for the ending.

Anyway, I've started outlining a little, how I'd like the rest of the novel to go. I made a list of characters and what they need to do/find/accomplish. Hopefully that'll help me know what to write next. *Smile*

just 1323 more to reach today's goal.

Well, I didn't get to 5k yesterday, but I did get 2,402. I'm happy with that.

I keep a spreadsheet (two actually. It's a long story) with my NaNo stats. I have calculated how many words I'd need to write every day in order to finish by November 30 as well as November 25th (the day before Thanksgiving). I also calculate how many words I'd have to write just on weekdays in order to finish by the end of the month.

Here are my stats so far (which I find encouraging to look at):

To finish by Nov. 30th: 1,614 words/day
To finish by Nov. 25th: 2,225 words/day
writing only weekdays: 2,260 words/day

I just had a NaNo scare! I wrote a long scene this morning, 3 pages in a word document. Then I added it to my main novel item, and I checked my word count. Just over 25k. Huh? If I had 25k the last time I wrote, and I added 3 pages of words, how could the wc be that low? I took out what I just added and my wc was only 24k! I had lost one thousand words!

See, I have my NaNo item saved on a flash drive and also on my hard drive. After writing on Saturday, I saved only one of those instead of both.

So it was a short scare. I thought I was going to have to reach 25k a second time! I found the "missing" 1k, though, and I'm back to normal. As normal as can be, anyway... *Laugh*

I've had a strong morning of writing so far. 1,500 words with one tarot card reading! (One of my NaNo tricks is having a character visit a tarot reader. I use a free tarot reading site - lik www.facade.com - and I focus on the character to get their reading. I've found that it's surprisingly accurate and sometimes gives me a good insight into the character and their destiny.)

Anyway, I still have one more reading to do. I'm hoping to get at least 3k done this morning, and just maybe get a 5k day in! That would very lovely. *Smile*

I reached 25k yesterday! Halfway done!! Hooray! *Bigsmile*

I'm not sure I'll write much today... I have another 5k walk this morning (a "Great American Smokeout" walk that benefits ACS) and Mr. J and I both don't have work today, so it'd be difficult to spend the day writing.

I'm really hoping to do 3-5k tomorrow. *Smile*

Another NaNo meeting yesterday. I only got 750 words at the meeting, but I'm surprised I got that much!

Yesterday was pretty awful at work... just running around like a maniac cleaning up after incompetent coworkers and dealing with the insane customers. Being on my feet for 9 hours straight was tough, then we did a little shopping in Wilkes-Barre, (though according to my new pedometer, I walked 14,541 steps yesterday!), I was pretty tired by the time we reached Panera.

So I'm happy with my progress so far. And next week won't be as bad with my work schedule. I hope to reach 40k by the end of next week. *Smile*

Happy Friday the 13th!

Man, if I thought yesterday was bad at work... I'm in for fun today! Add in the fact that I had a terrible time trying to sleep last night, today's going to be a joyride! *Laugh*

At least after work poisonivy is picking me up & we're going to Panera Bread for dinner. Good food and free wi-fi!

I wrote 686 yesterday evening (my goal was 500, so that's good!) and my goal is 500 for today. Shouldn't be too difficult to reach going by our last NaNo meet-up! I'm hoping to reach 25k by the end of the weekend!

Met my goal yesterday. I wrote 1701, actually, so I went ahead of my goal. So I played Plants vs. Zombies as a reward. *Bigsmile*

I've let my characters totally take over, and here's some of what they're doing:

Dr. Therice just shows up wherever he wants and announces surprising things.
Erie, a little girl, is wandering around her apartment building alone when she knows she's not supposed to.
Lilia, a prostitute, is having sex with everyone! lol!
C-19 is killing everyone!
Henri, the baker's assistant, keeps fainting! (oh yeah, and the man who died in the bakery? he was killed by the traveling shovel of death!)

...I still haven't done the tarot reading scene yet.

And yesterday I went and lost my gummybears! How can I write without gummybears?? I'll have to pick up some more at work today.

I knew this was going to be a tough week for NaNo-ing, but it's gotten worse... I'm still on track, though. It just means more writing and less games. *Pthb*

(On a side note: If you have an English degree and/or consider yourself a writer, and your coworkers don't know, sometimes it's better not to tell them. Otherwise you get offered jobs like writing the company's weekly newsletter...) *Laugh*

Anyway, my goal today is only 500 words (I think... I lost my goal sheet.), but I have this dream of reaching 25k very soon. But I have a meeting at work today and I have no idea how long it will last.

I just reached 20k and it feels pretty good! I'm *almost* halfway done! *Bigsmile*

The week is going by slowly... with work, it's difficult to get a lot of writing in, but I did manage 1k today. For me, milestones really help keep me motivated. Yesterday I was just over 1k away from reaching 20k and that kept me wanting to reach it today.

Now I'm only 5k away from being halfway done?? That's easy! *Laugh*

...My plot is totally running away on me, and you know what? I'm letting it. It's more fun writing when you don't have it all planned out, I think... I mean, I know where the book is supposed to end up, but how it gets there is a total mystery! Characters keep popping into my head, and I have no idea who they are or how they'll be important to the story! *Laugh*

Happy NaNo-ing! (anyone losing their sanity yet??)

I wish I didn't have to work... I wish I could NaNo all day long! *Bigsmile*

Wrote about 1k yesterday and only 500 words today. Still ahead, though. *Smile*
