![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The middle child of our family...one of our pride and joys Adam Scott... He is such a big-hearted young man who is always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His love knows no limits, he gives until there is nothing left. I admire his go - getter attitude in life, and how he strives for success in everything he does. He refuses to believe he can't do something. He sets his standards high, and excels at almost everything he attempts. He works entirely too many hours each week, but he loves it. He dreams of becoming his own boss, and I am sure one day soon he will be. I respect how Adam stands up for his rights, yet he does so in a gentle manner. He believes that the family should always come first and one day is going to make some young lady a wonderful husband. Adam is indeed our pride and joy... Happy Birthday Son.... We love you! ![]() ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Our Adam ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
Sometimes there are not enough words to write what my heart is feeling...so tonight I won't even try. I'll just say that I am so grateful for having the best of friends in my life and without you, I don't know what I'd do. The laughter, the tears, the talks, the love, and the memories... I wouldn't trade it for anything. ![]() |
I found this on the web it was written by columnist Regina Brett, it's the most requested column she's ever written. I thought these were excellent words. Lessons in Life... 1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good. 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. 3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. 4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. 7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone. 8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it. 9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck. 10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile. 11. Make peace with your past so it won't mess up the present. 12. It's OK to let your children see you cry. 13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. 14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it. 15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks. 16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living or get busy dying. 17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today. 18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write. 19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else. 20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer. 21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, and wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special. 22. Over prepare, and then go with the flow. 23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple. 24. The most important sex organ is the brain. 25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you. 26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?' 27. Always choose life. 28. Forgive everyone, everything. 29. What other people think of you is none of your business. 30. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time. 31. However good or bad a situation is it will change. 32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch. 33. Believe in miracles. 34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do. 35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger. 36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young. 37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable. 38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion. 39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere. 40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back. 41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now. 42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful. 43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved. 44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. 45. The best is yet to come. 46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. 47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind. 48. If you don't ask, you don't get. 49. Yield. 50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift. And something else I found online that I thought held a lot of truths. The heaviest thing I can carry is a grudge. If I want my dreams to come true, I mustn't oversleep. Of all the things I wear, my expression is the most important. The best vitamin for making friends.... B1. The happiness of my life depends on the quality of my thoughts. One thing I can give and still keep...is my word. I lie the loudest when I lie to myself. If I lack the courage to start, I have already finished. One thing I can't recycle is wasted time. Ideas won't work unless 'I ' do. My mind is like a parachute...it functions only when open. The 10 commandments are not a multiple choice. The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime! It is never too late to become what I might have been. Sometimes we are so caught up in who's right and who's wrong that we forget what's right and wrong. Friends are like balloons; sometimes you just have to let them go. I hope you found something here that makes you think today. |
** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Us under the trees David McClain ![]() ![]() There is a lake near our home that our family enjoys going canoeing in. Sometimes Eric and I snuggle up on a bench under a tree and stare out onto the water, enjoying the peaceful, calm quiet evenings and the beauty of nature like in this photo. I need to hang up a sign that says, "Take my advice, I'm not using it". Why is it that we're the last ones to follow our own advice? I'm so guilty of this. I recently practiced tough love with someone and told them that if they wanted sympathy they needed to get a dictionary and look between sh*t and syphilis, and they could find it there. Yet, I whine constantly...I have to ask myself why I dole out advice when I don't bother using it myself. ***To my friend -- I hope you know I do care.*** I have so much to be thankful for today as my life is blessed, some of my prayers have been answered and I'm having a good day despite the fact that our son is in transit back to Iraq as I type this. I'm going to go attack some laundry and stop being whiney. I hope you're having a great day too. For now, I'll leave you with this little funny. If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull, but that's not the worst of it. My headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see things up close. My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather. My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins. It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently. But here's the worst of it -- Almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter..... either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires! |
I'm finding that I am becoming more and more of a germ phobic of others, but not to the extent of OCD. However, I seriously do try to keep the germs down when I can. Recently I had an incident at a McDonald's restaurant that bothered me, and I don't feel that I was over-reacting, or in the wrong, and I wonder what you think. I drove up to the drive thru window to pick up my simple order of one ice cream cone, I listened as the lady at the drive thru window #1 lady ask lady #2 to make it for her. I observed as she made it. Lady #2 then handed the cone over to the third lady #3 standing at the next register, who transferred the cone over to the drive thru woman #1. Who then proceeds to try to hand it to me. I stared in disbelief for a moment that the first lady was too lazy to walk the 10 feet over to make it herself and the fact that she clearly had nasty finger nails and was working in a restaurant (even if it was a drive thru). I was polite but refused the ice cream cone by saying, "I'm sorry, but three people have just handled this one ice cream cone and passed it between them without anyone wearing gloves or without using any napkins on it. Would you mind making another one and please use a napkin on it?" ... I got a shocking look from her and a new ice cream cone while I watched it made. I realize that the bottom part of the cone had a small paper wrapper on it, but I had witnessed first hand multiply fingers of three different people all over the unwrapped cone part and her very dirty nails grossed me out. Was I really over reacting, what would you have done if it was your ice cream cone? |
For the first time this spring, the weather was awesome and we were finally able to enjoy our dinner cooked on the grill and eaten outside, and we even had a nice toasty fire in the fire pit... What a great night shared with the family out on the deck in the mild sunshine, and fresh air. I love those times spent laughing and talking with loved ones. It made my heart smile. Skyler was super today while I was out shopping he mowed the lawn, used the weed eater, and raked up the leaves. That was a great surprise to come home to. Later he helped get the patio furniture set up again, and he played chef and cooked our meal of delicious hamburgers and hotdogs. We're all going to miss him when he leaves Wednesday morning... Life Instructions # 349 Never waste an opportunity to tell someone that you love them. I love each of you, and hope that you know this. ![]() |
It's time to wipe off the tears, blow my nose, dust my knees off, and start again fresh. It's another day I don't want to spend it crying, because I'm not sinking. Thank you all for the loving emails. I'm okay - (not really, but I will be). My sadness has nothing to do with my son heading back to Iraq. Here is a something to make you smile today. Those two woodpeckers may have to go! ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
Broken -- there are no other words to describe my emotions that I feel. I'm not fond of the video, but the words to this song say everything I feel tonight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_WttEtp7QY&feature=related Broken - Lindsey Haun Wake up to a sunny day, not a cloud up in the sky And then it starts to rain, my defenses hit the ground And they shatter all around, so open and exposed I found strength in the struggle Face to face with my troubles When you're broken in a million little pieces And you're trying but you can't hold on anymore Every tear falls down for a reason Don't you stop believing in yourself When you're broken Little girl don't be so blue I know what you're going through Don't let it beat you up Hitting walls and getting scars Only makes you who you are Only makes you who you are No matter how much your heart is aching There is beauty in the breaking Yeah When you're broken in a million little pieces And you're trying but you can't hold on anymore Every tear falls down for a reason Don't you stop believing in yourself When you're broken Better days are gonna find you once again Every piece will find its place When you're broken, when you're broken When you're broken in a million little pieces And you're trying but you can't hold on anymore Every tear falls down for a reason Don't you stop believing in yourself When you're broken Oh, when you're broken When you're broken When you're broken |

Seems as if I've been away forever from blogsville instead of just a few days, I've missed reading everyone's blogs. Eventually I'll get to them, I'm understanding there was a major Butterfinger war that was going on between Eric Wharton ![]() ![]() ![]() I had a good trip down to Mississippi with Skyler and Zak, but our time there was short and sweet, however I am thankful to be back home in PA again. It's odd that I have enjoyed traveling my entire life, and have lately realized that the older I get, the more of a homebody I am becoming. I don't necessarily think that's too much of a bad thing either, but juggling our two families 1,200 miles apart pulls on my heartstrings often. I love it in PA, yet I miss my family terribly also. What's a girl to do other than try to visit as often as I can? While visiting my family we had fun getting caught up with everyone, and were all lazy lying around on the hammock, enjoying a cookout and soaking in the sunshine. It was great going with Zachary's to his first fishing trip, and watching him get excited as he caught his first fish. He was apprehensive at first about touching a cricket, and was giggling so loudly, when bored he splashed his rod and reel in the pond, and even dropped it into the water. It was hysterical to see him be so shocked that the fish he caught was alive and flopping around on the pier. He kept waving his hands in the air telling us, "can you believe it - did you see it, it was alive" I don't know why he wasn't expecting it to be alive but then again, you never know what goes on in a three-year olds mind. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** On Friday, I went with Heather Lea to her six-month check up she's doing excellent, she is glowing, and doesn't even look pregnant yet. The baby's heartbeat was strong and healthy; getting to hear it was a treat for me. But even better, I was able to share in the experience of her 4D sonogram with her and Chad. It was incredible to see the live images in real time of our baby girl waving her tiny hands, kicking her long skinny legs like a gymnastic, and sucking her thumb. It was so cool to witness this tiny creature moving about. This newer technology of sonograms are miraculous as they are now able to see not only just the external shapes, but to see color of the baby's skin, detailed features, eyes, cheeks bones, facial expressions and lips before they are actually born and all of their movements in real time. Right now, our little one already weighs 2 lbs, and 3oz, and she had big eyes, and pouty lips like Angelina Jolie. I'm off to read some blogs, and hope to get caught up with everyone soon... |
It’s been a whirlwind with Skyler these past few days, and now he has decided he wants us to drive the almost 1,200 miles down to Mississippi with Zak to spend a few days with our family there. So that’s our plan to leave tonight and drive the 22 hour trip... (sigh) I’ve yet to throw anything into a suitcase, I've been busy getting my truck washed, waxed and cleaned and oil changed... Now I’m about to pack. Lord, help me... these kids! ![]() I’ll have my laptop with me, and can check my emails. I promise to try to get caught up with everyone’s blogs when I return…Take care everyone… talk to you guys soon… bugzy is baaaccck!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Love you! |
My heart is overflowing tonight and yet, I don’t have anything special to write about. I can only say I have so much to be thankful for in my life. Sometimes there are no words with a full heart, just happy tears. Tomorrow is a new day waiting to be lived and cherished. I intend to appreciate every minute of it. I hope yours is a great day also. |
Five airplanes, and five days later, Skyler is safely home with us for 18 days. He has been in airports since Monday all over. And each flight was delayed by another day, the last leg of his flight was delayed an additional two hours after we arrived at the airport. Zak was waiting patiently for his arrival, and informed anyone who would chat with him that his daddy was coming home from Iraq today to play with him… It was so nice hearing so many strangers thanking Skyler for serving our country, it made my heart swell with pride. Tonight we’re having quality family time… ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Patiently waiting for daddy ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Still waiting ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Has anyone seen my daddy? ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** This is what family is all about. They say that pet owners eventually begin to resemble their animals, and if this is true, soon I’m going to start turning gray because our cat is solid gray. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Do you think this dog could belong to Donald Trump? Compared to some of these other pet owners, found here at http://www.flyaboveall.com/dogs.htm Wow, these owners sure do look like their pets. |
I will try my best to never complain about being delayed in an airport again. My son just called to let us know that he and other soldiers have been sitting in the airport for 48 hours waiting for a flight. They were originally scheduled to leave on Monday morning and said they just received their clearance and were confirmed on a flight departing for the US in a couple of hours. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Happy Anniversary to our only daughter, Heather Lea and Chad on their third wedding anniversary. It seems like yesterday we were planning their wedding, and now in three more months their first child, our granddaughter will be born. |
Is it an April Fool’s joke or not? I received an email stating that Pizza Hut is now Pasta Hut. It’s odd they only have one pasta dish on their menu. I rarely ever go there anyway, so I guess it won’t affect me. It’s also on their website. I was told I was cheating in my blog entry tonight (by the birthday boy) but I’m wore out now from helping him open his presents, and eating his chocolate birthday cake and ice cream at the restaurant. Just for you ShellySunshine ![]() ![]() I hope everyone had a day filled with laughter and fun for this April Fool’s Day. Happy Birthday Sweetheart ![]() ![]() |
