And now I get to watch my grandchildren go through the same things my kids did. Only now my kids get to experience exactly what my wife and I went through. Now THAT's poetic justice. I've no doubt you're a wonderful mom.
And I empathize what your husband is going through with his business. I've been there ... and gotten the ratty, old t-shirt. My best to you all.
Apart form all the other hurt, perfectly captured by saying you were 'only guests', the feeling that one of your children is more or less being rejected by your own mom, is so awful and unacceptable. And how sad and difficult for your son also, who usually perfectly sense these emotions.
Can so imagine you're never going to stay with them again.
Oh, how horrible. I don't think I will be able to get that image out of my mind for a while. On the bright side, you haven't lost your knack for description! Nature is ruthless and there is nothing you can do to change that fact. That doesn't mean that you need to lose your capacity for compassion or condemn the entire species for the actions of one rambunctious frog. Instead, use it to understand the need for balance in nature and make every attempt to encourage harmony with any outdoor changes you might make.
It sounds like you are taking time for yourself, which is good. Some mood swings are normal, but be sure to talk to your midwife about what might be outside of normal. Some hormonal imbalance can be managed naturally with diet and herbs and might be helpful. The play sounds like fun. I hope it goes well!
