For those of you not familiar with me, I pity you. Your life is about to be inspired and enriched by simply knowing I exist. For those who do remember my notorious and glorious days as a Writing.com regular, you've no doubt been wondering where I've been and what I've been up to for the last several years. Naturally I've just continued to be awesome, but for details you'll have to watch this new blog.
There's something in my area called Labor Ready, where unemployed people desperate for work go. They stand in the Labor Ready building, with other unemployed people, hoping to get called by the receptionist and sent to a job (yard work, construction, things like that). Some spend entire mornings, entire weeks there, getting nothing.
I would donate to one of those people, if I were going by your criteria. They a.) need the money, b.) are making a real effort to work, and c.) you could see their faces.
Go to your local hospital to either the pediatric ward or the information desk if there is security on the ward. Go to the nurses station and ask which family could use the donation the most. You can either hand the nurses an envelope to give to the family or ask if you could speak to someone from the family to donate directly. Just prepare yourself for the potential hugging that may follow.
I saw this happen on the cancer floor when I was a volunteer and have never seen happiness spread faster. The patient and their family were happy, but even better, the staff on the floor spread the story throughout the hospital and soon everyone was paying it forward. It was a big deal.
Good for you for wanting to take a hands on approach to donating.
I really want to pay off some lay-aways. I didn't know you could even do that. Apparently they give you a list so you can sort of look it over and pick which one you want to pay off, and then they call the person to let them know. One of my friends picked lay-aways with a bunch of toys--Barbies, teddy bears, that kind of thing.
For the record, I did read every song title, just not all the blurbs about the song. I only read the ones for which I thought I might have heard the song. I never remember song titles, so it's possible I have heard some of them. I wouldn't know it though if I had.
Haven't played that one, just the original Max Payne. Cool game (though the movie was terrible).
Leger, I will take that advice. The beauty of that is "Saturday morning cartoons" are now an every day thing thanks to cable television. So we don't need to wait for the weekends!
Wow, just wow. I'm assuming he was too young to remember this? Otherwise I can't imagine how he hasn't been locked in a padded room or at least stunted for life.
I know I heard my parents having sex once. At the time I was too little to understand what all the noise was, but I was old enough to remember it clearly. Old enough to have the realization dawn on me years later when I found out what sex was. I'm fairly confident they made my brother that night. This is foolish, since it seems unlikely I happened to hear the exact sexual encounter that resulted in my brother. However, since I choose to believe my parents have only had sex exactly three times, once each for myself and my two siblings, I'm sticking with that theory.
