A place to keep my personal thoughts.

My thoughts, like teardrops, splash onto the page, causing a rippling effect that disturbs the calm and quiet.

Prompt: Interesting discovery in your closet or cupboard (go look and find something)

I'm determined to begin my spring cleaning, and I decided my closet was the perfect place to start, especially since I needed something to write about for this prompt. Since the most exciting thing I'm likely to find in my bedroom closet is the mate to a lost shoe (which is actually a very exciting find for me), I started in a closet in an unused bedroom I refer to as "the junk closet".

Last year, my brother and I cleaned out our deceased parents' house, and each of us took a box of momentos. Since it was a very emotional time for me, I put the box in a closet when I got home that evening, promising myself I'd go through it 'soon'. Soon happened to be today, almost a year later.

When I was around five years old, my parents got my brother and me a handheld Pac Man game. I say they got it for us, but it wasn't long until we were all playing, anxiously awaiting our turn to hopefully get the highest score. Over the next few months, I'd say we kept Duracell in business with the number of batteries we used playing the addictive game. I remember we finally got an adapter for the game, and I also remember we continued to play it so much, we managed to wear the adapter out.

Like everything else, we eventually tired of the game, but my parents had kept it, most likely as a reminder of all of the hours of family fun the little game brought us. I found that Pac Man game in the box of momentos today, and it took me back to a happy and carefree time before smartphones and laptops, when my biggest concern was trying to get a higher score than my brother.
