My mind wanders from one thing to the other. I tend to see connections where others only see what they were told to see as a child. I'm no child; but, I lived in wonderment then... and still do. I don't allow my fingers or my pen to lead the way as much as I used to. Perhaps I should.

As for Noah... no rain today... yet.

I've read several of your recent blogs. I wrote down the book and author because I would like to read it after reading your blogs. I can never understand how anyone can point to a specific person and say God said, "follow this man." Christians follow Christ. His wisdom and teaching never get old. I advocate the study of Christian History. In the Greek word Divolos = diabolical, comes the knowledge that a thought can be put into your head to turn you away from something you intended to accomplish. This is what is happening many times to ordinary Christians who are caught up with pandemic and politics. They need to get into scripture and discover the mind of holiness that was the Christ. It gives you a place to test your own thoughts about what God relates to us on a daily basis. I appreciate your comments. Write On. Sincerely Apondia

I've had the same conversation and lost a friend over it.

"I know you don't want to wear a mask, but you don't know if you're a carrier and you could make a lot of people sick. You could kill someone."

"Then I guess frail people should just stay home or take the risk."

"I'm one of those people. You just implied you don't care if I die. Even if it's you who kills me."

*Crickets*

I saw them the other day. Still not wearing a mask.

Unfortunately, this type of thinking really does make quarantine a lot sadder for so many people, including me, because I know I'm going to be stuck here a lot longer than others.

Because, "freedom". Oh, the irony.

We should all have respect for one another, I and my other half always wear face masks and gloves, we disinfect and keep a bottle in the car, we social distance as a respect to others and to protect ourselves and we stay in unless necessary to go out and walk where it is less crowded.

Others infuriate me because they don't seem to get it. The Spanish flu from 1918 to 1919 lasted approx fifteen months and in that time 500 million people were infected about a third of the world's population at that period. The death toll was between 16 million to fifty million people.

Coming up to today 2020 7,000,000 million people have been infected already in a few short months and the death toll is around 400,000 and still rising. Common sense tells us to protect ourselves and think of others. Some have no thought for others and to me are very selfish.

This could go on for some time and our world has changed forever. Man is destroying this beautiful planet by his own ignorance and this is why the wrath of God is one day coming. Just as in the days of Noah.

Every soul that dies is on our conscience, this has got to stop, we have to look after our planet and look out to one another.

When will they ever learn?

This essay is articulate and beautifully crafted.
You make a good case. I appreciate your concern that
we stop giving up on kids who need help. So many of the
kids who shot and killed students and teachers felt
isolated and disliked, with nowhere to turn. They are
usually desperate and angry, having always been a fifth wheel.
In Rutland, Vermont where I live, the police had a
brainstorm. Instead of picking up and taking kids
or adults to jail for carrying or selling drugs,
Rutland invested in mental health clinics for individuals
who steal to get drugs or die, to be treated by
doctors who are qualified to work with these
unfortunate students and adults. As a result, the
percentage of drug dealers and users has been
slowly dropping, with a long way to go. It is
clear to all of us that treating the patient sure
beats going down the road to nowhere to
endure brutal conditions in a state or federal prison.

I've talked about the problems with media for a long time. Do you remember the show, Network (1976)? Prophetic.

The last two years has shown a complete breakdown of our perception of reporting with integrity. If it ever existed.

Rainbows are About Hope

A notice on the Google tabloid indicates that a school administrator in Wisconsin has forbidden first graders from singing "Rainbowland" recorded by Dolly Parton and her goddaughter, Mily Cyrus.* It is a song about inclusion of people who are different using the rainbow as a symbol. I find this administrative decision offensive for two main reasons: children love rainbows and have loved rainbows for decades at least. Children who have been abused are more likely to draw rainbows than those who have not. Unless they have been told a rainbow is specifically about people with different sexual orientations, they don't know this. Even if they have been told, only those who are born with some sort of different sexuality that they are experiencing have any basis in experience to understand what it is about.

Rainbows are about hope. Anyone who has been exposed to the Old Testament of the Christian Bible knows the story of God sending a rainbow to show Noah that he intends to never wipe out all people again. It is presented as a covenant between God and man that the vengefulness of God will not be released upon mankind ever again. Why in the world would a school want to take this away from children? I suspect they never thought about God's promise to Noah and to all of humanity. There are children's books about rainbows representing hope for humanity to get along with each other that long predate any national dialogue about sexual identity or orientation. This literature is suddenly anathema to people who claim to be Christain. I wish they would read the story of Noah and re-think this decision.

Administrators at a Wisconsin elementary school stopped a first-grade class from performing a Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton duet promoting LGBTQ acceptance because the song "could be perceived as controversial."

Students at Heyer Elementary School in Waukesha had prepared a rendition of “Rainbowland" for their spring concert, but school officials struck the song from the lineup last week. Parents in the district say the decision was made because the song encourages LGBTQ acceptance and references rainbows.

Superintendent James Sebert, who did not immediately return a call on Monday, confirmed to Fox6 that administrators had removed “Rainbowland” from the first-grade concert because it might not be “appropriate for the age and maturity level of the students." He also cited a school board policy against raising controversial issues in classrooms.

Sebert has previously prohibited rainbows and pride flags from being displayed in Waukesha classrooms and suspended the school district’s equity and diversity work in 2021.

“Let's all dig down deep inside, brush the judgment and fear aside,” the song from Cyrus' 2017 album “Younger Now” goes. "Living in a Rainbowland, where you and I go hand in hand. Oh, I’d be lying if I said this was fine, all the hurt and the hate going on here.”

First-grade teacher Melissa Tempel said she chose the song because its message seemed universal and sweet. The class concert's theme was “The World” and included other songs such as “Here Comes the Sun," by The Beatles and “What a Wonderful World,” by Louis Armstrong.

"My students were just devastated. They really liked this song and we had already begun singing it,” Tempel said Monday
