Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.
George Bernard Shaw

I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

new day, new ways
red, orange, and yellow
green, blue, indigo, violet
rays, I kiss the arch
hugging the sky

inhaling dawn, bright
crisp air redolent with scent
a rose, jasmine and three leaves
still there with autumn looming
one high lingering

my neighborhood lights up
concrete blocks, the shopping mall
seems radiant, shining
glow of lot and harbor
in the sea of architecture

a dumpster, seagull’s spot
food store for city animals
even the rat with moving whiskers
looks lovely in the changing lights
of this rainbow, God’s color line

humming tunes from my mouth
a streak of hope in the heavens

Sometimes
I act
as if
my life is over

For example:
I only see old people
in the streets these days

The younger ones
(they’re outnumbered)
I examine carefully
with a smile on my face
and an instant memory
of me being that age

I am invisible,
of a certain era
No longer a looker
with a swift walk

I study faces, people
to remind me
of times gone by
and
on top of that

I watch daytime television!

URGH

— the news,
but still:
that’s something
really, really old people do
with lots of time
on their hands
and numbered
days

—or poets
looking for clues

On the table with colors shining
Salmon or yellowish dining
So bright, a rounded ball
with parts exquisite and small

O treat under the sun
makes my mouth water run

My nostrils engage in scent so fine
Odors of wind and light intertwine
Sunshine and herbs are in you
Lay down your skin, please do

O treat under the sun
makes my mouth water run

The coat a roughed field
softness of structure is yield
Two halves make one whole
like the Dutch soccer’s goal

O treat under the sun
makes my mouth water run

Soft and spicy, aqueous your slice
Sweet on the tongue, advice
to eat scrumptiously and eager
is saying less and too meager

O treat under the sun
makes my mouth water run

Silence is golden, you split
when splashed on the floor, on the grid
I hear the name Lawrence
as I describe an Orange

O treat under the sun
makes my mouth water run

I am the Fraxinus excelsior, a tree
known as Ash or Yggdrasil
I connect the nine worlds
the center of din is me

Branches reach out to the heavens, three taps
support, they stretch to the wells
and creatures reside in me:
I name dragon, eagle, and stags

I am full of life
life is full of me

I am the Fraxinus excelsior, a tree

Till doom upon my leaves
a chainsaw tackled those roots, my leg
I crave, I am in pain
dying by the full moon

I am the Fraxinus excelsior, the tree
of death

Snap, crack…

Quote of the Day:

“A black cat among roses, phlox, lilac-misted under a quarter moon, the sweet smells of heliotrope and night-scented stock. The garden is very still. It is dazed with moonlight, contented with perfume...”

Quote of the Day:

“The whole of life is just like watching a film. Only it's as though you always get in ten minutes after the big picture has started, and no-one will tell you the plot, so you have to work it out all yourself from the clues.”
― Terry Pratchett, Moving Pictures.

We're born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the illusion for the moment that we're not alone.
