Prompt: What book would you recommend? Why? ~ "Blogging Circle of Friends "
We haven't heard back from the bank yet about Operation Buy A Bach (see earlier entries) but my mind is already thinking ahead to how I'll cope if we end up going on a restrictive budget. One of the easiest ways for me to save money is to stop buying ebooks. I have a lot of ebooks. 1,979 to be exact. That's a lot. So I'm currently working out which ones I haven't read yet, and which ones I want to re-read. I estimate I probably have half a dozen that I haven't read yet that I really want to read at some stage, and then there's a whole bunch of historical romances that my mum ordered on my account that I've never read. I used to read a lot of historical romances, but don't tend to read them much these days. I could, though, if I was on a budget and not able to buy any new books to read.
I do have a bunch I'd be happy to re-read though, and some I'm even looking forward to re-reading. Sometimes I think 'Ooh, I wanna read that one again', but I'll set it aside for a future date when I don't have any money. I'm so silly.
So these are some books or series I really enjoyed that I'm looking forward to re-reading.
Charlie Adhara's Big Bad Wolf series. This series has the BEST lines. It's a m/m paranormal contemporary series.
Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. I read up to book 11 and own up to book 15. I really enjoyed the first few books, and I think if I start back at the beginning, I'll get sucked into that world again. There are 18 books in the series now. It's a m/f paranormal contemporary series.
Lynda Aicher's Kick trilogy. I actually didn't like the third book, but the first book was a five star read for me and the second was a four star read, and I'd be happy to read them again. It's a m/m bdsm contemporary trilogy.
Ilona Andrew's Innkeeper Chronicles. The first two books in the series were five star reads for me, but for some reason I never got around to reading the third one, which I own. There are five books in the series now. It's a m/f paranormal series. I'm not sure if it's contemporary or not, I'd have to read it again to find out.
Idle Bloom by Jewel E Ann. I rated this five stars, but it has been a long time since I read it. It's a m//f contemporary stand-alone.
The Cost of Repairs series by A M Arthur. Most of the books in this series were a four star read for me. It's a m/m contemporary series.
The Restoration series by A M Arthur. This was two five-star reads and a four-star read, so I'd enjoy reading these again. It's a m/m contemporary series.
The Perspective series by A M Arthur. I've re-read The World As He Sees It numerous times. It's such a compelling book. Tristan is such an intriguing and unique character. But there's another five star read in this series and a four star read, plus two books I haven't read yet. It's a m/m contemporary series.
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley. I really enjoyed this book, and have been tempted to re-read it several times. I also own ten other books in this series, so it would be a good one for me to dive into. It's a m/f historical series.
The Earth's Children series by Jean M Auel. This is a series I've read multiple times, and I actually started re-reading the second book earlier this year. I should really start from the Clan of the Cave Bears though (the first book) and read the whole series through. I only own the second book on kindle, but I own the whole series in physical books, including the last book in the series which I haven't finished reading yet. I was actually thinking that I might put this series in the holiday home if we got one, to read while on holiday. But I'm wary of things being stolen from the holiday home when we're not there. Anyway... This is a m/f series set in the ice age (so basically, extreme historical! ). The two lead characters, Jondalar and Ayla don't meet until at least halfway through the second book, so it's really Ayla's story (Jondalar isn't even in the first book) rather than a romance, but it's a pretty amazing read. There is a LOT of scene description, plus the author shares things that the characters couldn't possibly know. For instance, the character might see a cave lion, and the author notes that these are the predecessors of, and much larger than, modern lions. Well, the character has no way of knowing that (or caring about it!). So there's stuff like that, which never bothered me the first time I read these books in my teens, but it bothers me now. But it's still an amazing series and well worth the books. Steve is also working his way through them. He's on the third book.
Never Seduce A Scot and Highlander Most Wanted by Maya Banks. These are the first two books in the Montgomerys and Armstrongs series by Maya Banks. There was supposed to be at least a third book but it was never written. Both these books were five star reads for me, and I've read Never Seduce A Scot multiple times. This is a m/f historical series.
Whispers in the Dark by Maya Banks. This is the fourth book in the KGI paramilitary series. Only books four and five contain any paranormal aspects. There are twelve books in the series. I have re-read this particular book numerous times, and I usually read the next book afterwards because it follows on well. I own nine books in the series, but books seven and eight were only two-star reads for me, so I kind of lost the will to keep reading. I would definitely go back and read Whispers in the Dark again though. This is a m/f paramilitary contemporary series with paranormal aspects in books four and five only.
A Dragon's Spirit series by C I Black. There are four books in this series, and they were all four star reads for me. I was intrigued by the uniqueness of this series and would be keen to re-read these. This is a m/f paranormal contemporary series.
The Kingmaker trilogy by Amanda Bouchet. This was one of the best series I've ever read. Three five-star books, and I was totally swept away. I actually re-read it immediately after finishing the third book, which is unheard of for me. I wanted to re-read the start with the knowledge I had from finishing the series, to see what small details I had missed. This is a definite re-read series for me. It's a m/f fantasy series set in a world that is similar to ancient Greece.
To be continued (since this list is actually for my future benefit!)... |
