I've been studying my cover photo for a while now, and it seems to me that it is more than just a photo of what is there that can be seen, more than just three white rocks stacked on a beach. It contains an important question about the future, about what happens long after the photographer has gone. What will happen to our pile of stones when the tide comes in? Will it topple or has the architect built this structure at a safe distance?
I don't know what will happen to these words that I stack here on the sand. They may prove safely distant, or they may be swallowed up by a rush of self-doubt. They may be here for a season. They may lose their balance and be scattered by the shoreline, or be hidden away under shifting sands. Perhaps someday, the tides of life will reclaim them.
Or maybe that's just a bunch of poetic, romantic nonsense. After all, this is just a blog.
I find it's seldom worth my effort to respond. When I do respond, I try to be diplomatic (ha, a rather political response in itself) about it. That usually invites more comments that may not be as diplomatic. It's easier to leave.
After all, how can someone just not see my view is the right one?
I don't like confrontation, so I try to avoid anything political. I can't say I've never responded with a thumbs up, or whatever, but mostly, I don't want to know details or have anyone try to convince me either way. I just want us all to get along!
Actually, I find considerable amusement in being so obscure in some of my posts that I'm quite sure both sides think I'm arguing for them. I wonder if that makes me a double agent?
Lazy Writer est 4/24/2008 That is certainly how it happens according to my research. The problem is knowing which product because by the time you see them, they are in everything they could access.
I agree with Beholden If I got on the floor to fold things, someone would have to help me up. A disaster or comedy in the making (depending on your point of view). I'm over the "experts" on social media. It's just one more thing to waste my time...LOL
The big problem for me would be getting down on the floor to do the job. There's no way these days that I'd be able to get up again. At my age, one learns that the floor is a distant and unknown country.
Recently, Beholden wrote about politics and the wisdom of avoiding them here. I agree with that, but not everyone does. Some members often mention politics - not in a piece of writing, but as an informal post in the newsfeed - and with such a casual air that it is obvious they expect universal agreement. I find that amazing.
I expend much effort to avoid responding and disrupting their confidence.
