This has been an interesting week. It seems like yesterday was the first day and the week is up already. Here in space it is difficult to tell time.

Remember to set your clocks back at midnight on November 1. Yeah, I know. I hate the longer periods of darkness too, but we are starship voyagers. We don't see much starlight anyway! Speaking of stars, we are exploring a star today named Sorji - NaNo WriMo winner! .

 Below  (E)
pastoral poem about my happy place (one of them anyway)
#2148738 by Sorji - NaNo WriMo winner!

In this the author speaks of going to their happy place. Tell us about your happy place.

My Happy Place

My happy place
is not a location
in either time or space,
because I accessed it
through scripture reading,
prayer, and meditation.

My happy place is full of light,
and it cast its radiance
across my spirit and mind
both day and night.

 Where Does a Poem Live?  (E)
Seriously, where?
#2230928 by Fynacious

Where does a poem live?

A poem is conceived
in the silence of meditation
when poets ask the hard questions
and their souls answer
in simile or metaphor.

A poem is born
when line and stanza are merged
in poets' minds.

A poem is a living entity,
evolving with each edit
and each reader.

Just Be Yourself   (E)
No such thing as fixing a person, man or woman. Don't even try.
#2200095 by TheBusmanSantaPoet

Write about what it is like to be yourself.

Learning to like myself
is a process
that I must work on
every day.

"O Son of Man!
Veiled in My immemorial being and in the ancient eternity of My essence, I knew My love for thee; therefore I created thee, have engraved on thee Mine image and revealed to thee My beauty."

Baha'u'llah12

I know--
because God has told me
through the Pen of His Messenger--
that my spirit
was created in God's image,
and that it can reflect
all the divine attributes
if I continually
polish the mirror of my soul.

Day by day,
test by test,
prayer by prayer,
meditation by meditation,
and scripture by scripture,
I am learning to like myself
because I am a creation of God.

Write about beauty in your Blog entry today.

The beauty of the rose
in is its colors,
while the passion of the rose
is in its thorns.

How came about the colors of the rose?
When conceived in Eden there was only one
pigment to offset its verdant leaves,
and no thorns to scar the hands of love.

How came about the colors of the rose:
The shades of red, yellow, brown, black, and white,
that reflect evolution's light;
How came the barbs that scar the hands of love?

How came about the colors of the rose:
Created to absorb the light of God,
a black rose bloomed beneath the firmament;
And wept when it couldn't reflect love's light.
Where its tears fell upon Eden's soil
the white rose grew.

How came about the colors of the rose:
Created to reflect the light of God,
a white rose bloomed in the dawn,
and wept because it couldn't bleed.
Where its tears fell upon Eden's soil
the red rose grew.

How came about the colors of the rose:
created to reflect the martyrs' blood,
a red rose bloomed in the noon-day sun;
and wept when it couldn't shine.
Where i ts tears fell upon Eden's soil
the yellow rose grew.

How came about the colors of the rose:
created to reflect matter's sun,
a yellow rose bloomed in the rich brown soil;
and wept because it couldn't find faith.
Where its tears fell upon Eden's soil
the brown rose grew.

How came about the colors of the rose:
created to reflect the soil of faith,
a brown rose bloomed near the garden's edge;
And wept because it couldn't find love.
Where its tears fell upon Eden's soil
the multi-colored thorned rose grew.

Experience and lessons we learn from life.
#2235600 by Vertika Saxena

What experiences have you gained from life?

"Life's Journey:
Contemplating the Immortality of the Soul

A journey we begin at birth,
on this small speck of dust called Earth,
over life's broad highway many plod,
leaving the narrow paths untrod.

From birth to death some may race,
considering life a game of chase,
beyond death's door they refuse to look,
as if this material life were a closed book.

While over life's highway others roam,
who don't consider this Earth home,
beyond death's door they can't see,
but they believe their souls live eternally.

The worlds of God go into eternity,
beyond Earth's plane where we can't see,
we're given a glimpse now and then,
when God sends His Prophets to walk among men.

The journey we began at birth,
will last beyond this plane of Earth,
through the worlds of God ours souls will roam,
Traveling forever through their true home.

One Million Stars  (E)
Theater of the night.
#2035884 by Don Two

Write about the universe and the stars.

I look into the sky at night,
And from beneath Earth's oxygen ocean,
I see stars twinkling beautifully bright,
Which puts my thoughts in motion.

I watch the stars and I wonder:
What planets are warmed by their fires?
What lifeforms on those planets wander?
Do those forms build civilization's spires?

There are over a million stars,
In the Milky Way Galaxy alone.
How can I believe this planet of ours,
Is the only one that to life gives a home?

I look into the sky at night,
I give thanks to the Creator,
For the Holy Spirit's light,
Revealed through Baha'u'llah's scriptures.

The scriptures of the Pen of Glory3,
Inspire many of the poems I write,
Poems that I dedicate to God's glory.

Life is the Rule4

"...know thou that every fixed star hath its own planets, and every planet its own creatures, and every planet its own creatures, whose number no man can compute."
Baha'u'llah

In this boundless universe
each galaxy revolves,
while beneath their stars
intelligence evolves.

The planets of each system
are blessed with a variety of life,
and God in His wisdom
aids each creature in its strife.

From the smallest one celled creature
upon the planet Earth,
to the largest multicellular animal
that a distant star gave birth:
                             Life is the rule in the Universe.

Write about that day in 2001. 9-11. What were your thoughts?

Healing America:
9/11 Poem

Time stitches
the jagged edges of terror
into a new scare.

9/11 One Year Later

The memory
is an endlessly looping videocassette
replaying death in slow motion.

The paralyzed mind watches,
American Airlines Flight 11
         penetrates steel, glass, and concrete;
watches United Air Lines Flight 175
         vaporize bodies, desks, and computers;
watches the illusion of safety
         crumble into dust;
watches the illusion of control
         buried beneath its own weight.

The trembling soul screams
when America Flight 77
         punctures the impregnable fortress of military security;
screams when United Flight 93
         crashes into the ground;
screams when the flesh is burned
         from its concept of God;
screams when hope falls
         in ashes across the country.

The memory is still fresh
and life hasn't returned
to business as usual.

Poet's Note:

smoke
and dust
towers fell
consumed by hate
our stomachs knotted
our terror stricken eyes
watched the video replays
our minds numb in shock waiting
we prayed for those who did not survive

Venting the frustration of writer's block!
#1740209 by Roari ∞ NaNo 2020 Survivor!!

The poem was about writer's block. That begs the question: What do you do for Writer's block?

My approach to overcoming Writer's Block has changed over the years. At one time, I fought it by using random quotes from various writers. Now that I'm a septuagenarian, my approach to dealing with Writer's Block has changed. I say a prayer before I start writing, sometimes before I look at the prompt. After reading the prompt, I write the first thing that comes to mind, and work from there.

Overcoming Writer's Block

When faced with Writer's Block,
I cater my food for though.
From June, Thoreau, or Murchie;
Form Authors Unknown and Anonymous.

What they say,
May echo my own deep thoughts,
Or cause me to view reality differently.

Then I move,
Beyond the Block
By going over, around, under, or through.

Another approach, I sometimes take, is writing blog entries in alphabetical order. I started this today in "I Blog Poetry and Prose, because for the last few days I've had difficulty coming up with anything. This morning I wrote "Abel, The Pumpkin, which wasn't what I'd planned on. However, the first two lines of the limerick just popped into my head, so I had to write the poem.

Write about decisions.

Decisions big and small,
important and unimportant,
come into our lives each day
for various reasons.

Some decisions are to test our faith,
some are to test our resolve,
and some come to show us
that we are not in control.

Some steps to making good decisions:
         Step 1: Say a prayer;
         Step 2: Meditate on the decision/problem;
         Step 3: Decide what to do;
         Step 4: Carry out the decision.

commemorating an attribute of God:

each day is a blessing
complimenting the Nineteen months,
each of which describe
an attribute of God:
