Choosing a stillness moment even as everything around us convulses
#2226845 by SusanFarmer

A specimen on the planet said "Choosing a stillness moment even as everything around us convulses."

Everything around us is definitely convulsing with riots, COVID-19, the election, and soon, the holidays. What do you do to calm the insanity?

Tranquility in the midst
of chaos
arrives on the wings of prayers
that silences the tumultuous mind
and attracts the confirmation
of the Holy Spirit
to the soul.

 Library Memories  (E)
Flash Fiction
#2176226 by Jacky

Write about library memories.

Back then
I did research
in a brick and mortar library.

A file card in hand,
with the title and author
neatly printed,
I looked through the card catalogue,
found the title,
and wrote down
the Dewy Decimal Number--
because the teacher always
insisted on seeing it
somewhere in the report.

Walking between
the shelves of books
was like
walking down the corridors
of a cavern system
looking for a hidden treasure.

"Morning is my favorite time of day......."

What is your favorite part of the day and why?

Through the windows of morning
dawn casts its warm light,
and I pause to meditate
on the dreams of last night.

The windows of morning
open onto a new day
before beginning my morning routine
I pause to pray.

On that planet, a native said, "I can't believe this is happening on my birthday."

The captain decided to throw a birthday party on board. Odd things happen on birthdays. What birthday do you remember best?

My birthday memories are a mixture
of sad and glad:
glad because of the presents
and my mother's love,
and sad
because I didn't understand
why I got to open a birthday present
on December 24
while my siblings got to unwrap
one Christmas present.

We all refuse to be another set of voices long among the wind. We will be heard. Use this line in your Blog entry today.

The winds of chaos
have no voice of their own
they speaks in variegated tones
taken from the throats
of racism,
nationalism,
and disunity.

O God,
help me to echo
the voice of Your Pen1
and rise the call
for unity and peace
on Earth.

O Lord,
let my voice rise
above the winds of chaos
to merge
with the concourse on high,
so that "We will be heard."2

"Make the most of each moment...before it's gone".

How do you make the most of each moment?

Also please give this author some reviews.

How do you make the most of each moment?
You begin the day with a prayer of gratitude
for another opportunity to proclaim
one of the names of God.

"Let each morn be better than its eve and each morrow richer than its yesterday."
Bahá’u’lláh34

You end the day with prayer and meditation,
reflecting on how you can make
tomorrow better than today.

POLL
Will 2021 Be a Year of Hope?   (E)
Your choice will decide who shall be the next calendar girl for the year of hope...
#2232738 by Jenn Webster

she asks "But for right now, I would very much like to know: Which symbol of hope would very best represent the calendar year of 2021, in which we hope would be a Year of Hope?"

Well, what do you think?

Ocean Waves

I picked Ocean waves, because the ocean is the symbol of both spiritual and physical life. I see, the ocean as a symbol of spiritual life, because God's word--which gives life the the human soul--is like an ocean that conceals within its depths pearls of wisdom. In order to find and understand these pearls, we my dive deep into the sacred books and meditate upon their contents. The ocean is a symbol for physical life, because all life on Earth began in the ocean and eventually evolved into the various forms we see today. I also, see the ocean as a symbol of the unity of religion and science, because both are gifts to humanity form the All-Glorious Creator.

Dove

The Dove is also a two-fold symbol. First, it is the symbol of peace, and, second, it is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. It is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, because that is the form the Holy Spirit took when it settled onto His Holiness Christ. I didn't pick the dove as the symbol of 2021, because--while I do believe a political peace will be negotiated the twenty-first century--the nations of Earth aren't ready to begin negotiating world peace just yet. Humanity and the nations of Earth still have a ways to go before being willing to admit we are dependent upon each other for peace and good will.

Sunflower

The Sunflower is a symbol of hope, because--like the souls of the faithful and seekers--it turns toward the sun. It doesn't matter to the sunflower the location of the sun in the sky, or which direction it rises from the flower will always turn toward the sun. The souls of God's lovers are like this, they don't care which direction God's light is coming from because they can detect the light and turn toward it.

Yellow & Blue

The color yellow5 symbolizes hope, happiness and the sunshine. The color blue symbolizes both the sea and sky, as well as "open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, expansiveness, inspiration, and sensitivity."6

Butterfly

The Butterfly is the symbol of the human soul, because--living in association with the human body--the soul acquires the virtues it needs to thrive in the spiritual world.

Facing the Music

Sometimes truth can only be sung. Use this in your Blog entry today.

Truth that Penetrates the Human Soul

Truth that is sung, chanted, or intoned has a better chance of penetrating a person's mind and ascending into their soul. Once the truth enters the soul it will cause an emotional reaction, such as awe, which will bring tears to the eyes. This is why a professional singer, with a trained voice, cause the audience to stand and applaud. This is also the reason that the revealed prayers should be intoned, because speaking them aloud--even if its only in a whisper--causes the message of the Holy Spirit to enter a person's soul and transform them.

"Intone, O My servant, the verses of God
that have been received by thee,
as intoned by them who have drawn
         nigh unto Him,
that the sweetness of thy melody
         may kindle thine own soul,
and attract the hearts of all men.
Whoso reciteth, in the privacy of his chamber,
the verses revealed by God,
the scattering angels of the Almighty
shall scatter abroad the fragrance
of the words uttered by his mouth,
and shall cause the heart
of every righteous man to throb.
Though he may, at first, remain unaware
of its effect, yet the virtue
of the grace vouchsafed unto him
must needs sooner or later exercise
its influence upon his soul.
Thus have the mysteries of the Revelation
of God been decreed
by virtue of the Will of Him
Who is the Source of power and wisdom."

Bahá’u’lláh89

Intone "to say something slowly and seriously in a voice that does not rise or fall much".10 I have found, that when I intone the verses revealed by Baha'u'llah, The Bab, or 'Abdu'l-Baha I can reel the presence of the Holy Spirit. I also feel the presence of the Holy Spirit when I read Psalms 23 or The Lord's Prayer aloud.

It's so easy to share everything with you"

Besides a spouse, do you have anybody in your life who is easy to talk to? Tell us about them.

Passion, lust, and romance are easy, love is a little more difficult. Love takes more work, which is one of the problems with love at first sight. I believe in lust at first sight, but not love. I believe a person can have a soulmate; however, it takes a couple to work on their relationship before they can claim to be soulmates. Love isn't easy. Love takes work. Romance is nice, but it takes work and cooperation from to people to make a relationship.

Be unjust to no man, and show all meekness to all men. Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression. Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts. Be a home for the stranger, a balm to the suffering, a tower of strength for the fugitive. Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring. Be an ornament to the countenance of truth, a crown to the brow of fidelity, a pillar of the temple of righteousness, a breath of life to the body of mankind, an ensign of the hosts of justice, a luminary above the horizon of virtue, a dew to the soil of the human heart, an ark on the ocean of knowledge, a sun in the heaven of bounty, a gem on the diadem of wisdom, a shining light in the firmament of thy generation, a fruit upon the tree of humility."

Secrets that you can share support that lasts a life time. Write about this in your Blog entry today.

School friendship were a long time ago, in a galaxy faraway. At least, it seems that way to now, especially since I reconnected with some of them on Facebook. I friended some of them on Facebook; however, today they seem more like acquaintances--people I met growing up, but never really knew. The people I consider friends today are the Baha'is I've met, both in person and online, and the people I've met on writing.com. These are the people I feel I could share secrets with, if there were any secrets I really wanted to share.

I've never been a person to share secrets with anyone. Maybe it was because of my upbringing or, perhaps, there's another reason. A reason hidden in my subconscious that I'm not ready or don't want to deal with. I'll figure out which one it is eventually, but in the meantime I'll share my secrets with Baha'u'llah.

My Best Friend

Baha'u'llah is my best friend
Is it any wonder I stand by Him?
My faith is based on God's revealed word;
Best source of world peace and unity.
Friend, do you comprehend?

On the first Friday in September 2020 this line, "You can do anything if you but try be like the eagle, set your thoughts high."17 reminds me of of a dream I had about a sparrow that wanted to be an eagle. In the dream, the sparrow, flying toward the sun, ascended into the sky where--after several attempt and numerous prayers--it was eventually transformed into an eagle.

We are sparrows--
striving to be eagles--
we fly toward the sun of faith
singing songs of unity
