Best Friends  (E)
The feeling of a strong friendship and bond. Enjoy! :)
#2187657 by Angie Marie Buxman

Secrets that you can share support that lasts a life time. Write about this in your Blog entry today.

School friendship were a long time ago, in a galaxy faraway. At least, it seems that way to now, especially since I reconnected with some of them on Facebook. I friended some of them on Facebook; however, today they seem more like acquaintances--people I met growing up, but never really knew. The people I consider friends today are the Baha'is I've met, both in person and online, and the people I've met on writing.com. These are the people I feel I could share secrets with, if there were any secrets I really wanted to share.

I've never been a person to share secrets with anyone. Maybe it was because of my upbringing or, perhaps, there's another reason. A reason hidden in my subconscious that I'm not ready or don't want to deal with. I'll figure out which one it is eventually, but in the meantime I'll share my secrets with Baha'u'llah.

My Best Friend

Baha'u'llah is my best friend
Is it any wonder I stand by Him?
My faith is based on God's revealed word;
Best source of world peace and unity.
Friend, do you comprehend?

YOU CAN DO ANYTHING  (E)
All you must do is try.

You can do anything if you but try be like the eagle, set your thoughts high. Use this line in your Blog entry today.

On the first Friday in September 2020 this line, "You can do anything if you but try be like the eagle, set your thoughts high."1 reminds me of of a dream I had about a sparrow that wanted to be an eagle. In the dream, the sparrow, flying toward the sun, ascended into the sky where--after several attempt and numerous prayers--it was eventually transformed into an eagle.

We are sparrows--
striving to be eagles--
we fly toward the sun of faith
singing songs of unity
and proclaiming our gratitude
to the All-Glorious Lord.

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence."23

How do I go placidly
through the chaos of civilization that
appears to be
crumbling around me?

I take a deep breath,
I open my prayer book
or the the prayer app on my smartphone
and I choose a prayer--
revealed by the Bab,
or Baha'u'llah,
or 'Abdu'l-Baha--
that gives me a feeling
of tranquility.

I could use my own words,
however,
my own words
don't always calm my mind
and bestow a feeling of tranquility.
while the revealed prayers
always calm my mind
by giving me a feeling of peace.

What would life be like without beautiful dreams?
#2231062 by celiasgirl

The planet had life that asked "What would life be like without beautiful dreams?"

What would it be like?

Everyone dreams!
Some of us have good dreams,
some of us have bad dreams,
some of our dreams are beautiful,
and some of them are ugly.

Everyone dreams,
but not everybody
remembers their dreams.

Remembered dreams are special,
because they
help us deal with life's lessons,
give us ideas for stories and poems,
guide us on our spiritual journey,
or foretell the future.

Whatever the meaning of the dream
the All-Glorious Lord
will help us understand,
if we just ask.

"I beseech Thee, by the potency of Thy will and the compelling power of Thy purpose, to make of what Thou didst reveal unto me in my sleep the surest foundation for the mansions of Thy love that are within the hearts of Thy loved ones, and the best instrument for the revelation of the tokens of Thy grace and Thy loving-kindness."

I also know that I will continue to write more poems on this subject.

Who Am I?

Who dwells in this body
created by the conjunction of sperm and egg?

Am I only a composition of nature?

What animates

Does a soul give my body life?

Creation of God or composition of nature?
Why can't this answer be both?

Tell us of one of your perfect memories that is now fading with the passage of time. Then stop by and review this item.

"Memory of a perfect moment fading with time."9 Do memories fade with time? Yes! No! Sometimes! I know those are contradictory answers, and they are all true. Some memories fade with time, while other memories don't fade. I suspect it has something to do with the emotional quality the moment the memory was formed. Traumatic don't fade, because of the strong emotion when the memory was formed. Sometimes the mind will hide the memory, in order to protect the sanity of the person. However, eventually the memory will resurface until it is dealt with.

Fading Memories

I meditate in silence
on the memories of fears,
of terror,
and of happiness.

I contemplate
the emotional quality
attached to the memory,
and afterwards
I write through the fears,
through the terror,
through the happiness.

Have the memories faded,
or simply been dealt with
to the point
that they are
I am no longer obsessed
with them?

It must be its inaccessibility that has kept it so unspoiled. Long may it remain that way.13 Inaccessibility protects land and forest from development, but not from global warming. The rise in sea level caused by the melting of the ice cap and glaciers will flood many of the ocean beaches and coves. We can see, through the devastating forest fires experienced across the Earth, that global warming is having an effect on the climate. This affect will increase if we don't begin to do something on the local, national, and international levels.

Meditation on the distance and surface are of stars an extended metaphor.

Read the above item. Religion and science are partners and not enemies. Use this line in your Blog entry today.

The inspiration for "The Brightness and Color of Stars were astronomy class notes (I took the class several years ago) and the Baha'i scriptures on the unity of science and religion. Ever since I was a young child, both science and religion have fascinated me. I couldn't reconcile the two until I became a Baha'i and read the scriptures scripture of the Baha'i Faith, which consist of the scriptures revealed by the Bab and Baha'u'llah, as well as, the writings and authenticated talks of 'Abdu'l-Baha.

"The fourth principle of Bahá’u’lláh is:
The Unity of Religion and Science

We may think of science as one wing and religion as the other; a bird needs two wings for flight, one alone would be useless. Any religion that contradicts science or that is opposed to it, is only ignorance—for ignorance is the opposite of knowledge.

Religion which consists only of rites and ceremonies of prejudice is not the truth. Let us earnestly endeavor to be the means of uniting religion and science.

‘Alí, the son-in-law of Muḥammad, said: “That which is in conformity with science is also in conformity with religion.” Whatever the intelligence of man cannot understand, religion ought not to accept. Religion and science walk hand in hand, and any religion contrary to science is not the truth."

The dialogue in American politics - captivating and bold - a poem.

Tim Chiu says "Allow the sounds to vacate,
Avail their raucous strength,
With each and every vile strait
Those preachers raise at length."

Do you think politicians are preachers or do they promise us things they have no intention of delivering?

To misquote or paraphrase a statement from a recent speech at a political convention, trust in any politician is a "preexisting condition", which can exacerbate any health condition. One of the big problems in America is that many times people equate trust in a politician with trust in God. I don't care how religious or what religion the politician professes to adhere to, if they put their own selves and their political power before God and the welfare of the people they are untrustworthy.

in which he quotes Robert Frost as saying "Poetry is made out of algebra and fire."

Do you agree? Why or why not?

Poetry is a creation of matter and energy. Poetry is a composition of the material and spiritual. It is the cooperation between the brain and the soul. It is an echo reverberating down through the aeons and across the planet. Poetry is a gift from the Creator, that poets have claimed for their own. Poetry is a two-edged sword that can lead the poet or read to or away from God, depending upon the focus of the reader or the poet.

Poetry is echoes from my soul,
descending through mind's corridors,
Whispering to my animal brain,
melodies of spiritual reality.

Rhyme is the right brain's interpretation,
of music descending from my spirit.
rhythms whose immortal melodies,
transcend physical reality.

Verse is the left brain's translation,
of echoes descending from my soul,
words cannot adequately express,
spiritual reality.

"Treasures lie hidden beneath the throne of God;
the key to those treasures is the tongue of poets."

A Tradition Quoted by the Bab

For me, poetry is a spiritual experience, that I encounter each time I read the verses revealed by The Bab, Baha'u'llah, and 'Abdu'l-Baha. All the sacred scriptures of every religion reverberates with the echoes of the Holy Spirit. I first encountered this experience when I read the King James Version of the Holy Bible, I have encountered is numerous times since in the scriptures of other religions.

Stop by and give IceSkating SugarCube a review and answer this question:

COVID-19 has been rampant. What, if anything, have you done for summer vacation?

I haven't taken a summer vacation in ages. At 73, I don't prepare for summer, I attempt to enjoy the long, hoe, and--sometimes--sweltering days. I enjoy summer evenings and mornings, because they aren't as hot as summer mid-days. The biggest problems with summer, especially in Las Vegas, is the triple digits temperatures and high electric bill.

Summer

Infinity becomes palatable
As seconds extend into minutes
Minutes into hours
Hours into days
Days into months
Months into years
Years into decades
Decades into centuries
Centuries into millennia
Millennia into aeons

Some of the things I enjoy in summer time are (i) drinking sweet ice tea, (2) drinking ice coffee, (3) eating watermelon, (4) eating honey dew melon, and (5) attempting to keep cool. I attempt to keep a positive attitude during the hottest months of the summer, because depression interferes with writing poetry.
