Prompt: How do you feel Christians should behave toward children in general, not just their own?

As human beings, we should treat children kindly and lovingly. We need to guide them. I guess I don't feel Christians should treat them any differently than we would as good humans. We are supposed to listen to the children. Sometimes they can teach us something.

However, there are some children who desperately need Jesus' help. We are to guide them in the way they should go. (Proverbs 22:6)

Blog Week Birthday Bastion

PROMPT 1: Sept 1 – “May the joy that you have spread in the past come back to you on this day. Wishing you a very happy birthday WdC!”

Tell us why Writing.com is still a good writing community after 22 years. Give us your thoughts on the site and what it means to you to be a part of this community.

It's hard to believe that WDC is 22 years old! It's brought lots of writing and blogging events and the opportunity to learn more about writing through its many classes and teachings of those that have already been published. It offers writing blogs and so many more activities. It's taken some time, but I've learned about showing and not telling (not that I do a great job the first time around). I've learned the difference between active and passive words and voice. I still struggle with the story structure, but that has nothing to do with what's offered at WDC! It has everything to do with my imagination. *Ha*

There have been grammar classes and so many other opportunities to learn to write a story or a poem. Then we have blogging, which is one of my favorite activities on WDC. Although I don't have enough time to read everyone's blogs, I try to read as many as I can and respond. I like when people respond to my posts, so I want people to know that someone has read their writings.

There are opportunities to share your writings on everything, even music. Those are a lot of fun, to share your music with others. It's fun to listen to the music, too!

WDC offers so much for writers and I've learned a lot from them. It has writers from all over the world! It's so fun to talk with someone from a different country from where you live. You can learn a lot about their culture and that's a splendid thing. I have made many friends here on WDC and I will be forever grateful for this site bringing us together.

Unfortunately, I don't have near as much time to spend on WDC as I would like. There's just SO MUCH to read and do. Sometimes, I have to take a step back and remember that I am here to learn more about writing. It's easy to get carried away with playing games that others have created. However, there are a lot of writing contests that help you to hone your skills. I still have not mastered the ability to write a story using only dialogue. It's harder than you think. My problem is that I seem to be great at writing scenes ... not a story. As long as I've been here, you'd think I would know how to do that. Well, I know how, but it's completely different to actually write a story correctly.

But, I digress. WDC is the only writing site I've found that offers its members as much as they do. There are fabulous opportunities on the site and it's run by two of the most amazing people!

I've applied for a different job at work and I hope that's where God wants me. I need to weigh out the differences between my current position and this new one. I would be going from 40 hours a week to 32 hours a week. So 16 hours less than working full-time. Plus I'll have to pay more for my insurance. Maybe I could negotiate 35 hours a week instead. That would keep me at full-time. We'll see.

My interview is on Thursday so any of you that pray, would you keep me in your prayers? I need to make sure I'm quiet enough to hear Him speak and know whether or not to accept the position if it's offered to me. His will be done, you know?

I would be working with another woman that I began working with twenty-four years ago. It would be great to work together again.

The only thing that concerns me a little is that it is a foundation-funded position. Meaning the foundation that raises money for the hospital pays the salary. So, I'm thinking it would be fairly easy to do away with the position if and when the money runs out. But, I'm willing to take that chance.

I also have two weeks to get two curriculums done for school. I don't have much going on at work and plan to try and get them completed then. So, again, if you're a praying person, please pray that I get them completed as soon as possible.

Well, that's enough of my life for today. I hope you have a fantastic day!

After next week, I go back to physically going into work five days a week. I'm not looking forward to it with my bum knee. But, hopefully, I won't have to live with it too much longer.

I talk with a surgeon today about a knee replacement. I hope we're able to schedule it soon. My boss is having her knee replacement in June, so I'll have to probably push my surgery to July so we're both not out at the same time.

I really hope I'm not putting too much into the knee replacement. I fully expect to be walking normally in about four to six weeks afterward. I also hope that my other knee, which is also full of arthritis, doesn't give me a hard time. I really don't want to have two knee replacements, but if that's what it takes, then so be it. Since I'm planning a trip to Ireland in a few years I need to get on this stuff.

I also applied for a different job and I hope I get it. It would be working with another woman that I started working with twenty-four years ago. We will have come full circle if I get the job. It will also be a promotion for me. So I'll take all the prayers and good vibes I can get.

Prompt: Write about your plans for tomorrow and how you hope they will turn out.

My plans for tomorrow consist of working from home. I'm hoping to get some homework done as well. I only have two more assignments to do for this session. But they have to be done by May. I need to check and see what specific day it needs to be done.

Well, I'm off to work on my homework.

Have a fabulous day!

Prompt: If you were hired to show tourists what life is really like where you live, what would you show them or have them do?

There are a lot of places near me that I would want to take them. Not necessarily in the city where I live. However, we do have an awesome bakery and an even more awesome ice cream shop.

Anyway, I live fifteen minutes from St. Louis, Missouri, home to the St. Louis Arch. That would be one place I'd take the tourists. Then I'd love to take them around to see everything there is to see in Forest Park. But, it would have to be at least a five-day tour in order to fit in all the places. There's the St. Louis Zoo, The Missouri History Museum, the Art Museum, the Science Center, and the Muny Amphitheater.

There are a lot of other things to do in St. Louis, but those are the first things that came to mind. There's a nice restaurant in Forest Park called The Boathouse. It's great food and it's in front of a lake where you can take a paddleboat out. I've never done that, but I don't think I'd do a good job. My legs would get tired way too soon. Ha!

This is really short because we woke up to no power this morning so I couldn't get online. It's almost 9:00 p.m. and I'm tired. So, I'll say goodnight.

Hope you have a nice evening or a great start to your day!
