One writer's journey through life and blogging as I try to rebuild a writing routine. Hopefully I will succeed, since, after all, "everything in life is writable about."

If we were having cocoa together… I would tell you about the strange year I had - how I had such low/almost non-existent creativity between February and October. I didn’t want to read books, didn’t want to write, or knit or crochet or film YouTube videos. I would ask your thoughts on that, as well as any advice I could carry into 2023.

If we were having cocoa together… I would tell you how much I love autumn, the thrill when the chill temperature and crisp air and gorgeous autumn colors come. How I yearn all year for this time of year. How this time of year always brings excitement and inspiration.

If we were having cocoa together… I would tell you about the 52 Book Club challenge. I would share how excited I am for the chance to read new and old books and to attempt to read 1 book every week in 2023. At least one book every week. The club does have occasional mini challenges with the chance to read more books. With my sapped creativity, I didn’t want to read many books—read maybe four books all year. I would ask if you’d want to participate too.

If we were having cocoa together… I would ask you what 2022 was like for you. I would ask if you struggled, if you saw a dream come to fruition. I would ask you if you went on vacation, and if so, your favorite moment. Actually—

If we were having cocoa together…I would ask you to tell me your favorite moment from the year, or your top five.

Why do I write? I'm not sure I know anymore. Maybe that's why I've been having so much trouble writing, why I can never finish something. I've wanted to write in order to publish for so long that I seem go have forgotten--or at least lost appreciation for--writing for the sake of writing or for enjoyment. I haven't even journalled or blogged in a long time, either.

2022 has been such a strange one. So many negative things happened this year. My air conditioner broke back in February, and due to miscommunication and a change in ownership, the repair company didn't come to fix the unit for several months. And my apartment really holds in the heat, so it got pretty unbearable until I was able to get lots of fans and some people from church lent us their window AC units until repairs could happen.

Around the same time, I found my creativity just sapped. I had no desire to write, to read, to craft--the very things that make me happy. Here it is the end of the year, and while I'm still fighting that, it's getting better. (Goal to rebuild my writing habit next year.)

Yet the world also lost so many beloved people this year too. Some to old age or health issues. Some--sadly--to suicide. I think my siblings and I are still grieving Jason David Frank's death last month. Jason meant so much to millions of people around the world, a role model. I need to save for tickets for when his movie "Legend of the White Dragon" comes out next year. I don't go to the theaters often, but I have to see this one.

Hopefully 2023 will be better for the world.
