[Dis]Graceful Thoughts

A place for me to share my thoughts and bare my heart: Not for the easily offended.

Snow covered the world around me as though God himself had decided to his erase his own creation. I felt a weight in my heart, a deep sadness. I sighed into the chilly December morning, my breath like smoke as it clung to the air before me. The world felt blank, empty.

As the snow began to melt and colors peeked from below the thick blanket of white, I began to feel lighter. I had been given a sign.

I knew, staring at the stark whiteness of snow that clung to the ground, that this was Mother Nature's way of cleansing herself, of allowing herself a fresh, new start. It was a metaphor for my own life, Mother Nature in infinite wisdom had given the maternal advice that I needed. It was time for me, too, to start anew.

With a clean, blank slate, I smiled. Life was about to begin...

December 23, 2009. The above is how I feel right now and what I've experienced over the last few days. This is my new beginning and this blog, though old, will follow me through this journey as I rebuild my life from this clean slate.

You mentioned education and it made me think of somebody's blog (not sure who's it was) where she heard the schools want to give the kids tablets instead of books. Considering how many books the children must carry, I think it's breaking their backs or at least straining them.

Years ago, we had lockers, but paranoia sets in because of the school shootings and bombs, that now the schools are all gated up, and there are no lockers. Now really...is that actually going to stop anyone who really wants to cause mayhem? There is always a way and some people, no matter if they are mentally ill or just messed up otherwise, will find a way. The misconception is that they are stupid. Far from it.

Okay so now we had that guy who went to the Batman movie and shot all those people. Clearly, the man is messed up. But does that mean all the movie theatres will have to be locked up too. I mean anymore than they are?

This is my opinion and not necessarily anyone else's but I see a connection.
It's also like outlawing guns. Think about it. Law abiding citizens are not going to use guns in a bad way, so having them give them up is senseless if you ask me. It's not going to change anything. I know women in the south who keep firearms. Then again they have farms and such and more than likely use it for protection. or hunting. Don't get me started on that now. Let me say this though. If I had to hunt to eat, I would rather starve. Still, it is their right to bear arms.

And does anyone really think the criminals will lay down their guns? Uh, no.

My vision is blurry but I can see enough to read most of this. Ah...the tatting. I finally did try making something with all the materials I bought. It runed out to be this big heart shaped thing. I dont' think it was suppose to be that big but hey at least I made it.

The bad news is that I've not touched any of it for months now. Instead I got interested in knitting something called Log Cabin Quilt. I bought all the colors I liked rather than usuing the traditional colors. I was going to make a quilt out of it, but changed my mind and figured it would be much better if I made a lapquilt for my oldest son.

You know the one. He has cancer and we havent' talked in like five or more years now. I hate that as we were close and all. I have no idea where he really is. These friends do so I will somehow get it to them and they can pass it on to him. I dont' expect to get a response but that's not why I am doing it.

My hope is that when he is getting treatments in the hospital he can lay this over him and maybe find some comfort from it.

I amused myself with calling it my Quilt of Many Colors (inspiration from Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors).

I heard of Hunger Games but have no idea what it is about. So now I'm not sure I even want to see or read it.

Then again, I saw Passion of the Christ. My friend loved it. I didn't. I really did not like watching someone being tortured like that no matter who he is. I also saw Saving Private Ryan. While I feel that movie was written well, at least one scene haunted me and I know I could have lived without watching it.

I guess that's what makes us all different in some ways and same in other ways.

I didn't read Hunger Games and won't watch the movie either. The whole concept is so strange to me. But, I'm okay with those other millions going and making it a phenomenon. It shows that living writers can make it big instead of a remake of Jane Austen's best.
