You're welcome to your opinion. A story that ends at every turn is no fun; it's not what Writing.Com is looking to provide. Most stories on the site has a few hundred chapters -- certainly not 16,000 on average.

It does not, in any way, limit "what stories are possible". It does, on the other hand, encourage engaging stories that keep a reader involved for more than a few chapters. If you feel you need to offer more choices, you can creatively create additional branches of a story by taking one choice and writing another chapter to carry the reader forward and branch again.
