House insurance is one of those necessary evil type expenses. You can pay it for your entire lifetime and never make a claim. If and when you do request an adjustment, it could result in higher fees. I have accessed it for a house I purchased that developed black mould within months due to an incorrectly built and sealed roof. I've had a tree break a window. I feel terrible for your damage/loss. Some damages are difficult to rectify.
