I'm confused on submitting a Short Shots story for a contest - it tells me to include the word count - hopefully there's a tool, or should I just try to count myself ? I'm scared I'll mess up and my entry will be disqualified. Deadline is 11:59 tonight. Thank you.

Also, I don't understand the "Survey", which serms to be the only way to submit my entry. It talks about some "b-item format", which is where you should put your item number, but I don't see a field like that. Please help, as I really want to participate in the contest. Thank you.

You can find a Word Count feature under the Gear icon at the top right corner of your item. Open your item, click on the Gear and scroll about halfway down and you should find it.

The Survey info needed to enter official WDC contests is available when you open that contest item. Enter your item in 1. box using the Bitem link -- {bitem:xxxxxxx} where the x's are replaced with your story's 7-digit Item number. Don't forget to click the boxes in item's 2, 3 and 4 before you submit the Survey.


Ah, thank you SO much ! With your very good response, I was able to use the word-count tool ( love it ! ) and then I was able to find the window to enter my number. I simply hadn't been able to SEE the window, it is very faint.
