Okay, yes, I should always save. I know.

But that aside, I'm 99.99% confident I've not saved things in the past and they were still there in WdC. But that seems to not be the case now. I'm not sure if it's the difference in how I'm using it or if there was a change.

Is it a difference in use? That would be if I did a Quick Edit and had the new window open and I was working in there vs. if I opened a new item and was working in there. I'm not sure if this has only happened with one of these cases, but I was quite sure I've had my computer restart with unsaved open windows in WdC and there was no problem. I recall the panic, then the relief and the blessings to SM and his family. lol

I think they were editing windows, but perhaps they were new item windows. The reason I think they were editing windows is simply because I edit MUCH more often than I write a new thing. (No, I don't actually edit my writing to make it better. Don't be silly. Who has time for that? I mean I add things to existing activities or notes.)

Anyway, I was wondering if there's been a purposeful change or if I'm doing something wrong (besides not saving, of course lol) or if it's a glitch like how usernames longer auto-populate in the pop-up windows when we try to tag someone after we got tagged or we (or, at least I) can no longer Like things in forums on phones. (Is that last one just me?)

Thanks! I just lost about 8 hrs of listening to videos and taking notes, so I'm definitely not happy. I could have sworn WdC kept things when my computer restarted! Well, not unsaved newsfeed notes, but things unsaved in my port, I'm sure of it!

Greets,

No, Writing.Com’s edit systems do NOT autosave. No, we have never had an autosave system.

In the Full Screen edit, you can CTRL+S (CMD+S on Mac) to save without a refresh. But it requires action. There is no browser-based auto saving.

Sometime back, there was a chrome plugin that did manage to store form field data, in the event of a crash or for fast refills of fields… but I think that plugin was discontinued over privacy issues or a lack of maintainer. I don’t quite remember why it left the chrome store. It wasn’t ours, it was just a general Chrome plugin.

Best wishes,
SM

Hmm...I'm confident...Anyway, okay, thanks. I would Like the post, but I'm on my Android and some time a while back, I lost that ability. But IDK if it's just me or not.

Hmmm. Haven’t heard other reports of that in Android. Strange!!

If the unliked post above is any indication, I'd say, "No." But thanks for trying. ❤️ Can you try again? I tried pressing it like 15-20 times.

I tried different fingers and on different parts of the screen (scrolling higher or lower, in case it was that part of the screen that was the problem). Nothing.

It looks like maybe I only fixed the case where there's an existing reaction. I just tested again and that's the only one that works for me... where there was already a reaction.

That's still a good sign. LOL. I'll work more on that today.
