Had a friend sign up as a new member (basic) because she wanted to read my content (port) and later post her own stories, but...
doing a search she located my port but could not read my stories because they were set as PRIVATE. I reset all my presets as everyone can read, but it still remain private. What steps am I missing?

I can see everything in your port, but they won't come up on a search as you have your intros rated as Non-E. Many of your works are also 18+ so if your friend has a lower rating threshold they won't be able to see them either.

So..I should change the Non-E to just E (everyone) and my 18+ to...what?

Well, I got to your port by clicking on your name and going to 'View Portfolio', so if your friend does that they should be able to read your work without you having to change anything.

If you prefer to be not findable, keep your settings. As for story ratings, my entire port (except my blog) is rated 18+ because I think it's better to be safe than sorry.
