Word Count Issue

I was updating and printing some stories for a family member, and noticed that the Word Count located in the item's *Gear* icon tallies 3 to 20 words fewer than is listed on the Preview line with the word and character count when the edit screen is open.

I use the range because I updated six stories and the word count displayed was different with each story. For example:

"Mirror, Mirror" Open in new Window. lists 470 words using the Gear icon, and 474 using the Preview line info.
"Time Flows" Open in new Window. lists 522 words using the Gear icon, and 528 using the Preview line info.

Some differences may be accounted for by adding an author's note that includes a bitem link. But not all my items had such notes. I thought this might impact folks needing a word count for a contest.
