To me, that's one of the hardest things about quitting. You make declarations and set your expectations high - and the more public those declarations, the harder it is if/when you fail. Well, the trick is to keep on truckin' and tryin' - it's a process, not a contest. So you didn't make it through the day? How about the last hour? How about the next hour? Maybe it's too soon to think in 24 hour increments. As with many drugs, it may be best to wean yourself from it slowly.
Review all those reasons why you want to quit. Those are still valid. There's your motivation. Just stop thinking in terms of "success" or "failure." Each day you smoke ONE less is succcess. Each day you go at the current level, not adding one, that's success, too. (Just not much in the way of progress, but it's like losing weight - you took years to build the habit, don't expect to ditch it in one week.)
