I have been known to skip prologues on a number of occasions. If they don't catch me in the first paragraph, have too much information in too short a space or if they drag then I head into the first chapter. If that catches me then I read the book from there. If I get confused partway through the book, I'll head back to the prologue. If I don't get confused at all, I'll read the prologue at the end. If I'm still board to tears by the prologue I don't bother to read it at all and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. |
