Writer's Fallout Shelter

A finely crafted short story may be the most difficult piece of fiction to write. Not my opinion, but the opinion of many who've been at this writing thing for years upon years.

For novelists, the most common woes are 1. Getting focused at the very beginning, and 2. the Mid-book Wall ( an affliction that looks very much like writer's block and strikes somewhere around the 35k--55k word mark.

With short story writers, the most common woes are: designing a tight story concept, complete with beginning, middle, and "sharp" end, and 2. Stopping while it's still a short story. When you hit a certain mark in any story, creative juices start flowing and sometimes it difficult to stem the tide.

In short, I think your problem is fairly common to flash and short story writers. Welcome to the world of novelists! ;)
