A nano place to chat about NanoWrimo... |
Before I tell you my strategy for Nano this year, let me start by telling you how I did it last year. I planned on writing 20 chapters, with each chapter containing 2,500 words or more. This would add up to the required 50,000 words. During November I would write out a chapter, then that same day I would write a chapter outline for the next day's chapter. By the time I got finished with chapter 16, I couldn't figure out how to stretch the story out for another four chapters. I had painted myself into a corner, and because of personal things going on in my life, I never finished the story. It was, however, the most I've ever written for Nanowrimo. Second place was in 2007, when I wrote 7 chapters of about 2,500 words per chapter. This year I have a different strategy. I'm going to write 24 chapters, each chapter composed of 2,100 words or more. That should give me a novel of just over 50,000 words. I'm doing a chapter paradigm this year, and I will write an outline for each chapter based on the paradigm. I'm doing the paradigm and chapter outlining in October this year, so I don't get burnt out during the last week or two of November. My weekly goal is 6 chapters a week, in case I get behind, I can use the weekends to catch up again. What do you think of my strategy? What is your strategy for NaNoWriMo this year? ---Ace Member of the "SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUP" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
