Oh those devil penguins, the bane of all NaNo-ers.
But in all seriousness, the quote pertains to my writing style perfectly. When I started NaNo, I told myself that I wasn't going to edit at all, until the whole thing was over. Then I discovered that if I left things totally unedited, I started to lose my inspiration to write the next scene. I need to feel my writing is at least close to my normal quality, or I just can't keep up my motivation to continue. So I've been editing as I go, and what I've discovered is that I'm an 'Add-stuff editor'. When I edit, I never cut big things out. When I'm done editing a scene, I usually gain at least three hundred words, so I figure that there's nothing wrong with it. Even though a lot of NaNo-ers would say I'm breaking the rules. I don't care. It's all about figuring out what works for me, so I can hit my daily word goal.
Great question SkyHawk. It's really interesting to hear about other people's NaNo writing process.
