A nano place to chat about NanoWrimo... |
Prior to now, I have had a hard time doing an outline. It just was not clicking or working for me. I now have an outline (I am still working on), in an Excel spreadsheet. The nice thing about Excel is I can change the order of things and keep all the data together, so it is easy to move. I have columns for: Where it takes place, my notes about what is occuring, who the POV character is, plot elements, subplot elements, and then I am keeping track of years [since my characters start young, and I wanted to avoid one of them aging 6 years while another one only aged 3 years (or some such mistake.)] Like I said, I have really struggled with outlines previously. They just did not work for me when I tried to recreate something that other people had done. I just sat down and started doing it, and it is now just flowing and working for me. I have found wholes in my story, and already started working on things like spending too much time on character development, without enough action and drama. So I feel like I have already had the chance to think about and deal with problems, all before November. So, for me, I would recommend an outline, if nothing else. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
