Over my years of public speaking and writing I have always found that, where writing is concerned, most readers shy away from most content that is longer than two pages. You may call it a sign of our times, but most readers want little to do with anything that is too involved, or for that matter, things that require more than cursory thought.
With this in mind, I will ask the advice of the writers on Writing.com, when they consider an article, monologue, or story too long. I understand that Writing.com is an eclectic group with equally eclectic taste. Does an author have to trim down his or her work in order for people to read it, or do they place it in the forum and hope that some intrepid reader will see what they have to say? I would appreciate any wisdom from the Writing.com community.
