We Need to Have A Talk About Writing...

With the right amount of force, a butter knife can turn a screw or skewer a man, but that doesn't make it a screwdriver or a dagger. No, when I ask, "Are you a writer?" maybe a better question is, "Can anybody else do it for you?"

I've never thought of it in those terms, but that is the true metric. Is there something you can accomplish by writing that nobody else can actually do for you? If so, and if that something is worthwhile, then you are a writer.
