Write down a bulleted outline of your story. You don't need every detail, just the broad strokes of did this, went there, then that happened.
I did it for my 77,000 word novel and got 38 bullets.
This makes it easier for you to see the scope of the story, and relay it to an adviser. Brief them on the fluffy bits (let them read the first chapter or two). Then they can cut to the chase and read the 2 page outline.
This is much faster than reading the entire thing.
Other things you may find with this outline:
parts you set up and forgot to use (my hero stole data to see why people wanted it, never used it)
parts you could cut out and not actually miss (like Indiana and the lost ark)
