When I do a review I tend to go more in-depth. I think that's what the author is looking for because that's what I want. However, many times I think I don't have any place reviewing someone else's work because my own work needs so much help! I guess I don't feel qualified. There's so much I don't know and it's difficult for me to get thoughts from my head to the paper (screen).
I try to make them visually appealing because nothing is more painful than to read a page full of just words with no color to separate different aspects you're commenting on. Bolding and italicizing help to break it up as well.
Typically, I use a template stored in My Review Tool. Sometimes, I kind of freestyle it, but most of the time I use a template.
