A reviewing forum for those interested in improving their reviewing skills. |
Research for what is unfamiliar helps me a lot when reading and reviewing words, topics, or other things with which I need information to help me help the word art artist through my reviews. Sometimes reading about a genre is helpful. Other times I wing it if I have a small amount of knowledge to go on and let the writer know that I am not very familiar with a particular something or other. If the content is something I truly do not want to review or something which causes me unease, I would usually offer to review something else or simply state that I would like to review for them but prefer reading a different genre. Many times I have found that even though it was a major challenge reading something and reviewing what I was unfamiliar with, I gained great benefit from this experience because it strengthened my ability of do better reviews and also to be able to write better because of the different ingredients I now could use in my writing.
