I try to keep an open mind when it comes to genres. I usually take a quick peek at the story first to see if it's worthy of reading, and by that I mean if it's grammatically alright. I've had some people ask me to review stories that had so many grammar and spelling mistakes it was impossible to read, let alone review! Don't get me wrong; we all make mistakes, and I won't quibble about a few niggles, but I can only take so much. As for the genre thing, I have only one wall, and I state that right on my request page in bold CAPITAL letters: I WON'T REVIEW ROMANCE STORIES It's just not my thing. I'm willing to give anything else a shot though, as long as it isn't too long.
