I review all kinds of non-fiction with the exception of anything that has a suicidal element or anything about drug use.
That is because I am at a loss at what to say.
When reviewing non-fiction, I would say the same thing that I would say for fiction these days.
Don't let a zealous reviewing/correcting inclination overreach show-off episode take over, and hurt someone. Review everyone as you would review your most beloved and sensitive offspring.
I never want to take away anyone's joy in the writing process. You have to find the joy and keep it in order to improve as a writer. Being constantly berated for technical errors (that editors can easily fix) does not lead to great joy.
Read the late and wonderful Cheri Annemos's portfolio intro and you will get what I am talking about. Never be the one to take away anyone else's joy in writing.
