Hi River and thanks for these interesting questions! Do you look at the plot, the characters, and the way that the author puts words together? For me, I look at the plot and the characters. If I am falling in love with the characters and engrossed in the plot, that means the words were 'put together' nicely. Do you like stories that have a lot of action or a lot of character development? I think if the characters are developed well, the action just kinda happens naturally, doesn't it? Interesting and complex characters seem to find themselves in 'situations' that are interesting. Action, just for the sake of action, doesn't lure me in. I need to be connected to the characters for that action to be significant. Do you like authors to use a lot of complicated words, or very simple words? I think I have a pretty decent vocabulary and good understanding and comprehension. Some writers use the 'three-dollar-words' to make themselves sound important and come-off as pompous fools. There's a time and a place for simple words or complex words - a good writer knows when to use which one. ![]() Check out these great pages: "Invalid Item" "Rach's Chocolate Emporium " "The Contest Challenge" "Scheming Scoundrel's Forum of Finesse" Invalid Photo #1054295 |
