Hi River,
It takes only a moment to prepare my work space. Background music, a few online windows to look through while getting to know the author better, maybe a snack to chew while chewing mentally on what I am reading and I am set.
The parts of my toolkit I find most useful are
1. a well-used sense of curiosity to pick and prod at what I read,
2. a cute little copy/paste utensil that wiggles lose bits and pieces of the author's words I've explored and want to highlight in my review
3. a few well-polished phrases I fashion myself and leave in place in response to the writer's work
4. and I usually finish up with a smile I rarely forget to take back with me after using it to lighten up the review a bit.
Let see now. where did I put that metaphor I wanted. I know I put it down somewhere . . .
