Mixing British and American spellings for same word
Hi all,

I'm a newb to your community, hope I'm posting this in the correct forum!

I am reading some material on change management for a training requirement at work. It is about our change management process, mostly as it applies to software and applications.

I have just found a bullet point that bugs me. The author has mixed American and British style spellings for authorise/authorize. OED recognizes both forms. Does anyone else consider this mixing as less than ideal?

The original author of this document is in Great Britain (I am in America.) I do not mind the spelling one way or the other. To me this mix is bothersome and I'd prefer one way consistently in a single document, or at least consistent within one line of text!

What was used is:

* Authorize - Authorisation to Go Live, ...

I think either of the following would be preferable:

* Authorize - Authorization to Go Live, ....
or
* Authorise - Authorisation to Go Live, ...

How do you view the mix of word spellings in this line of text?

If others feel this is perfectly acceptable stylistically, I will bite my tongue and not comment to the document owner!

Happy New Year everyone and I'm glad to have joined your community!

Cheers,
Tom
