Ed Sheeran's music is a really good example because he's just so popular and a lot of his songs are really emotional. Like you said, a lot of them are about breakups and stuff like that and those kinds of sad songs have been around forever. I like his song "Save Myself" because it's a good explanation of what it's like to be taken advantage of by others when you need help yourself.
