A reviewing forum for those interested in improving their reviewing skills. |
I'll adress the topic. One - two pages is not enough to give a good review. It would be more of an opinion based on those two pages. I read a book that was self published by a mother and daughter. Based on true events, I became interested in the backpage plot. After reading the first 3 paragraphs I wanted to throw the book out the train window. I didn't. I forced myself to read the rest of the book, painful as it was. I did leave a review on Amazon. The next day I returned to the festival and asked if the women had an editor. They didn't and were still "working on it." (the MS) Over the last few years they have published 3 other books and wanted me to read them. I couldn't. I opened the original book and checked, they hadn't fixed the problem. The word "was" had been used 5 times in one paragraph and numerous times in the following paragraphs as well as in the book. I do understand Whata WackyBrew If a person doesn't like the genre don't review it. I was asked today to review a poetry piece. I declined. I don't do poerty. I don't understand it and most of the time don't get it anyway. MY Blog: www.christinamweaver.wordpress.com |
