Reviewing with River

Let me state up front that I agree with your premise that reviews of an extensive piece based on one or two paragraphs is inappropriate.

I think most reviewers would set the piece aside and forego the review.

A review of only the first two paragraphs seems a bit thin and hardly worth the effort to post.

Like most of the comments posted in this discussion, if I know based on the genre or the first couple of paragraphs that the piece is not for me, I don’t review it at all. That doesn’t mean it is a bad piece, or poorly written, just not something in my wheelhouse.
