I'm sorry to hear about your mother and brother. With that sort of thing going on in the back of your head, it's no wonder you find it hard to sit down and write.
I can't say I've experienced something similar, but I have struggled with writer's block to various degrees, and found different ways to get around it. Find a place in your home (or a café if that suits you better) you can dedicate to writing is a good start. Setting a timer just for ten or fifteen minutes to begin with and not allowing yourself to do anything but write until it rings is a really great way to overcome issues with concentration.
If it's because the task of writing a story, especially a good story, seems too enormous, try to sit down and freewrite. Writing anything, even just the start of the crappiest, most cliched scene ever is better than writing nothing. Allow your writing to be bad if that's what gets you started.
