I usually acknowledge to myself that the author clearly had incorrect information or didn't do the research, or what they researched was wrong. I don't necessarily hold it against the author and continue reading. I haven't come across any book that had their facts wrong and I put the book down. I may or may not pick up another book of theirs if they have multiple to choose from.
It makes me feel good to know that I do as much research as I can, especially about topics I'm not familiar with. The thing is, I don't necessarily know how to access search engines other than Google, except for school. I have a different library to look at for school papers. Do you have to pay for other search engines? If not, how do you access them? What are they anyway? I mean, other than Google and Bing, I have no clue.
