Hello! As someone who has lost massive emails and whole stories because I failed to save them before the internet burped, I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, the site doesn't have an auto-save feature, so you'll likely have to re-write the chapter.

This is probably not particularly encouraging in the thick of things while you're still feeling the loss of the words you wrote, but there are ways to prevent it from happening in the future.

I know some folks who draft emails or stories or interactive chapters in private Google docs before copying them over here. You can also write them in Word (or free word processing applications/programs like Open Office, though their recovery for lost files isn't foolproof) or in Scrivener, if you have it. In a pinch, typing it up in an empty email should also work, since your email should auto-save drafts at very short intervals. I've also taken to selecting and copying the text of emails and stories before I attempt to submit or save them. That way, if the internet blips and it fails to save, I can paste the text into a new window and try again.
