I watched it during my first aid, CPR and AED class. Why did we watch a documentary? Because the class was 30 hours of instruction and the professor, rightfully so, thought that this one was a good way to experience a catastrophe without actually having to be in a catastrophe.
This documentary follows a few of the survivors through their ordeal. How is there so much footage? Ha! It's the social media age. Everyone who goes to Mt. Everest has a phone camera. And people film themselves all the time now. The documentary is a collage of phone and helmet camera footage. The survivors are interviewed and can tell their stories. There is also some b-roll about Kathmandu after the earthquake and now as well as some snippets detailing the lives of the survivors now, years after the earthquake.
This documentary will leave you shaken. It's emotional and scary. It will leave you enraged. And it will also leave you hopeful and empowered to be the one to do good when it's needed.
