What would someone do to have their yellow case removed?

Just nervous, is all.

I've wondered about that myself. Obviously (hopefully) if one is doing something illegal like messing with minors, they'll disappear. I assume SM has access to everything everyone says in IMs or emails. Otherwise, I don't suppose too much aside from harassment will get a person demoted. Maybe inactivity?

The one other thing that can get a Preferred author demoted is prolonged inactivity on the site (usually at least a year going by without logging in). That's what I've sent the most during my time on WDC.

S 🤦 Author Icon there's no need to be nervous. Even disagreements between members can be worked out without anyone's case color being affected. Trust me, if The StoryMaster is unhappy with something you said or done and he feels he needs to intervene, he will let his displeasure be known. Even then, he is an immanently reasonable guy. If you communicate and work things out with him, all should be well.

I have seen some blue cases get busted down to yellow several years ago after a big hullaballoo where a member might have got a bit big for his britches (this is a HUGE over-simplification, even for what I knew of the situation), but the only other blue or yellow cases that got moved down other than that were people who went inactive (as Stik to My Own Beat mentioned), or perhaps chose to give up their status.

So what color cases are there and how do you know what each color means?

Gray - initial colour
Black - member of the site who has posted at least one thing
Yellow - preferred author, awarded when a member has achieved certain things and the powers that be decide they deserve the promotion (no time frame, and do not campaign for it)
Blue - Moderator, like any site moderator
Purple -Senior Moderator
Red - Owner
White - Memorial case, for those members who have passed away

This is something I hadn't thought about, but I don't think anyone needs to worry.

Another consideration to everything that's been mentioned, some members choose to relocate. That is, they may not wish any of the responsibilities of a particular level. Most often, a Moderator might self-relocate to Preferred or even Registered Author.

Thanks, everyone.

Just worried as I seem to be upsetting people here pretty regularly, so I thought I'd check.

Cheers.

Thank you for the information. I am hoping to become yellow eventually. I have not posted in a long time.
