I typically go "around" the speed limit. If it's a residential area, I typically go the speed limit. If it's a highway, maybe like 5 over. If I'm on the interstate, I typically go 5-10 over, but mostly I just try to go with the flow of traffic. If everyone is going 70 in a 70 zone, I just go 70. I'm not one of those people who freak out, swerving in and out of lanes, just so I can go 80 and get 30 seconds ahead of the other cars. School zones and construction zones, I always go the speed limit. School zones because... well... it's children. Construction zones because I ain't about to pay a doubled up fine. I don't really care if people speed on more open roads, highways, interstates, etc. but I will never understand why people feel the need to ride on someone's back bumper. Like, I'm going 5 over, you pulled up behind me, and you expect me to start going your speed? Go around me, loser. Or back off. I used to have this one person, ever. single. night. I would find him riding my ass on my way home from work. We must have gotten out of work at the same time. He would have his high beams on, and I swear you couldn't put a piece of paper between his front bumper and my back. I would always slow down. Which, for some reason, people get pissed if I slow down when they're riding my ass? Like, I'm encouraging you to just go around me. Isn't that what you want anyway? I don't know. Anyway, after so many nights of this, I followed the person home because I knew they lived right by me, and I was going to ask what their problem was. Turned out it was a teenager, and he drove into his garage and closed it before I could say anything. So, I left a note in their mailbox telling them that their kid drives like an idiot and needs to be taught how to drive. Which is maybe crazy that I did all that? I don't know, but I do know I never had that kid riding my ass again. Also, laughing at the discussion of rolling stops, because I am awful at making a complete stop. I feel like, especially in Florida, the secret rule is "come to a slow down of 5mph then hit the gas again" |
