Yes I've watched the price jump as well. I usually get the new ones they do every year through the Postal Service store online. I do have a lot of older canceled stamps as well and you're quite right on the many different designs they've been doing over the last 170 years. Have some really cool designs. ![]() The brand new ones I purchased have risen in value over the years. It's a nice little investment along with the silver coins I'm always purchasing as a hedge against the falling dollar. If it collapses, precious metals will take off. Some of the ones that are used can be worth money as well but it depends on what they are. The older and more scarce ones are worth more [obviously]. Some of the more recent ones not so much but again as you said, some of the designs are really neat to look at. It's an enjoyable hobby I've found as well as the older coins but I lean towards the precious metals. Gold, Platinum and Palladium are just a bit out of my reach but hoping the price of silver will keep rising. The Gold to Silver ratio needs to be more aligned with each other. I started grabbing silver when it was at $7 per troy ounce. It's starting to approach $39 sitting at $38.65 at Fridays close. Time will tell if Gold and silver become more aligned with their ratio. If it does, I could be looking at silver worth north of $75-$100+ per ounce. |
