The next afternoon, Drew stood in his garage, proudly dusting off a baby stroller he’d borrowed from his neighbor. It was pink, had a squeaky wheel, and smelled faintly of Cheerios. Perfect.
Jared, standing nearby in his usual hoodie and jeans, raised an eyebrow. “You’re not serious.”
“Oh, I’m *very* serious,” Drew said, cracking his knuckles. “You said last night was the best sleep of your life. Time for round two—daytime edition.”
Before Jared could protest, *snap!*—and he was once again a pudgy little baby with wild curls and a confused expression.
“Wha—buh?” Baby Jared babbled.
Drew scooped him up and plopped him into the stroller. “Don’t worry, little dude. We’re going for a ride.”
They rolled into the park like royalty. Birds chirped, squirrels scattered, and joggers slowed down to admire the adorable baby in the stroller.
“Oh my goodness!” cooed an elderly woman. “What a precious little angel!”
Baby Jared blinked, then gave her a gummy smile.
“He’s got such expressive eyes,” said a man walking his dog. “Like he’s judging my life choices.”
“He is,” Drew muttered.
A group of kids ran up and handed Baby Jared a handful of candy. “Here you go, baby! You’re so cute!”
Jared, now holding a lollipop the size of his head, looked up at Drew with a smug expression that somehow said *I told you this was a good idea.*
Drew chuckled. “You’re milking this, aren’t you?”
Baby Jared responded by blowing a raspberry and tossing a gummy bear at a passing duck.
After an hour of stroller fame, Drew wheeled him back home and snapped his fingers again. Jared reappeared in full teenage glory, still holding the lollipop.
“That,” Jared said, licking it, “was the most attention I’ve ever gotten in public. I feel like a celebrity.”
Drew grinned. “You *are* a celebrity. The Baby King of the Park.”
Jared nodded. “Next time, I want a cape.”
“Done,” Drew said. “Baby Superhero edition coming soon.”  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
