(note: this will contain spoilers for the end game of Bravely Default 2, as it is only four months old I feel the need to warn you about this should you wish to play it, ignore this post if you want to go in this game blind, otherwise enjoy the post)
The time has finally come, after obtaining all the asterisks they could and destroying the soul of this monster within the book Elvis is carrying, the Heroes of Light were ready to take on the Night Nexus and put a stop to this monster once and for all. The very monster that has corrupted Edna, Adelle's sister and stole the asterisks to start the whole mess in the first place, Edna who's deep hatred for humans and all life in general made her an easy target to consume and possess.
They knew if the Night Nexus wasn't stopped, it'll consume all memories into itself and nothing will remain, everything will be erased and turned to the void, the method on how to stop it came from visions of the book ironically, after seeing a vision of Gloria sacrificing herself to seal it away and dying in the process, and a vision of Adelle and the fairies suspending themselves in frozen time to halt the Night Nexus after failing to stop it.
They also saw an asterisk obtained by Sir Sloan, or one half of it while Seth held the other half, and after defeating his spirit in his prime they fused it together. This is how they discovered the soul in the book and also that the old lady Seth helped out earlier on is actually the fairy queen, she brought them to the connection of all worlds where the body of the Night Nexus resides, and now they stood before it as it appeared. Two shadowy hands emerged as the Night Nexus came from the darkness and yelled.
"I have a very bad feeling about this." Gloria said but she must press on, as the last princess of Musa she must fulfill her duty.
"Never forgive.....never forget." The Night Nexus said, "all wisdom, all memory, must be gathered unto me."
"It wants it all to itself huh?" Seth muttered, "every single memory in the world."
"Aye and not for a good reason." Elvis confirmed, "Filthy, corrupted creature." He spat a bit, "it just wants to destroy the lot of them. To gobble them up full stop."
"Never forgive, never forget." The Night Nexus repeated, "those who feared my knowledge, who tried to lock me away, none shall be forgiven!" Gloira gulped before confronting the creature.
"Hear me Nexus!" Gloria started, "it is not your knowledge that mankind fears." She paused, "It is your greed, your insatiable need to consume all that we remember, ALL that we hold dear!"
"Lies, LIES!" The Night Nexus rebuked, "you fear my wisdom, its perfection." The Night Nexus continued, "I would see the scattered fragments of memory gathered." A pause, "the meaningless given meaning, all knowledge subsumed into one glorious whole!" It continued. "The light obstructs me, needlessly hinders my purpose, it must be obscured. Extinguished, annihilated!" At that they knew there was no reasoning with this thing, there was only one way to stop it, its destruction.
"Alright, we've got a world to save." Seth said as everyone got ready as the monster roared once more. The group went to fight it with all their might, weakening it and attacking it, the creature roared as it floated there.
"All shall be annihilated, all shall be destroyed." The Night Nexus swore as its shadowy hands grabbed it and disappeared, then a rumbling happened as black smoke formed.
"I am free at last of the chains that bound me." The Night Nexus gloated, "free to wreak desolation on the land!" The Night Nexus emerged once more but this time it took on a new form, it poked its head upside down.
"All shall be devoured, all shall be consigned to oblivion." The Night Nexus flipped right side up and floated down to face the heroes.
"Destruction, annihilation, all shall be consumed." The Night Nexus said as its smoke went towards them and all but Seth went on the floor as red energy seeped out of them, Seth watched as each of his allies slowly but surly lose their memories to this creature.
"Uhhh, where am I?" Adelle asked as she got up confused.
"I, I can't remember my name." Elvis groaned as he got up, Gloria also got up as she looked equally confused.
"Who am I, Who are you?" Gloria asked.
"W, what's happening?!" Seth asked, somehow he is unaffected by this phenomenon.
"Give your memories up to oblivion, return to the void, to nothingness." The Night Nexus encouraged as more of their memories were sapped away, all minus Seth.
"I, I can't remember anything." Adelle said.
"Er, who am I again?" Elvis asked.
"I don't understand, where am I, what's going on?" Gloria asked. Seth knew he had to do something to stop this, he had to get them to remember who they are one by one, he figured he'll start with Elvis.
"Elvis, don't tell me you've forgotten who you are?" Seth asked, "Not after you finally unlocked the secrets of that book." He continued, "you're the best scholar I know and an even better friend, nothing fazes you, or ever gets you down!" "And you taught me the best lesson I learned, don't sweat the details!" That seemed to do the trick as a light emerged from him and Elvis regained his memory.
"I did eh?" Elvis asked before laughing, "Aye that I did, and I've not forgotten who I am!" Elvis began boasting, "Elvis, the earth crystal's very own Hero of Light, reporting for duty!" Elvis laughed again. Good, now for the other two.
"You will not disrupt, all shall be consumed, all shall be devoured." The Night Nexus engulfed him before he could do anything, he felt himself slowly fade away but he will NOT forget.
"I will not, let you DO this!" Seth yelled as he glowed and shone a light, The Night Nexus glowed as well as light began to break through. The Night Nexus roared as it became engulfed in light, and blew up, Seth got free and the world became distorted as the memories shattered, and went into Seth.
"Argh." Seth yelled as he collapsed as everything faded, Seth, Elvis, Adelle and Gloria were protected by the crystal's energy, they've seem to have one, as Elvis tended to Seth's unconscious body.
"That was a great hit lad, that monster didn't know what hit it eh?" Elvis grinned, Gloria and Adelle seemed worse for wear, and still looked confused, apparently they did not receive their memories back.
"What happened?" Gloira asked, "who are you?"
"I still don't remember a thing." Adelle added.
"Hmm." Elvis said, "No clue, can't say I ever saw either of you either." Gloria and Adelle went to check on Seth, for some reason they seemed to be smitten by him, ready to follow him wherever he goes, it would appear not only were their memories erased, but all traces of their existence erased, a bitter sweet casualty of war all would not realize, except for one. Seth groaned as he woke up.
"Ugh." Seth said.
"Aye lad you did it." Elvis grinned.
"Is everyone okay?" Seth asked, "Elvis, Gloria, Adelle?" Everyone seemed confused.
"Eh, who?" Elvis asked.
"Gloria, Adelle?" Gloria asked.
"Who are they?" Adelle wondered, Seth's eyes widened, this cannot be happening.
